Re: Announcing: New "Web Mold" Inlay Chip Design

When I first saw them I thought "Speakeasy"... Didn't know PI did anything original.

Change the $1 to light blue! I loves me Mardi Gras $1's..... I'd happily switch to these if the $1 color was lighter.... not a fan of dark blue.

-Edit -

I just looked at the PI thread..lol, if there are any stolen themes the PI
s look like a partial copy of the speak easy's. This is a funny post by Michael...heehee. Change that blue!

Garyon are you aware of the total PI history? Anyone remember NY Giant stickers?

These chips on the other hand are obviously 'inspired' by the PI chips.

In any case, it's win-win for the chip buyer as both chips are very nice.
Wow- ya cant let one day go by without logging into CHiptalk- you just dont know what you will miss--

I havnt followed much of this- I did speak with MS about this awhile ago- and agreed not to use artwork that was a knockoff of his or anyone elses- and we feel we didnt.

THose who know us know that were not the most chip saavy people out there when it comes to REAL chips and REAL artwork designs-which is why we always bow to the masses on CT as we respect those here who KNOW real chips- KNOW artwork- and just know their hobby well. We dont. We make chips- we dont own anything that you could remotely call a real casino chip except the chips a few members sent us for free decals--its just not our market.

With that said- I have NO qualms whatsoever in refunding everyones money IF its CLEAR that the artwork Garyon did for this GB is a BLATANT knockoff of something MSPATTON ownes or has manufactured.... or anyone else for that matter. Other then one PM regarding this- weve heard nutin from nobody ( yea I'm from NY) regarding this topic.

Also- assuming our artwork is NOT a blatant knockoff- I have no qualms saying I think this version of the chip/artwork is stunningly nice and wish MS good fortune if he decides to make these.

The bottom line is- we all are a community- we all need to work together and if someone feels something isnt right- it needs to be discussed and resolved rather then cultivate ill feelings and ill will.

You thought the PI Private Cardroom chips looked like Speakeasy's?

No, I don't bother to look at PI threads. I saw these chips and thought at first they were Speakeasy's. I did ventrure through the PI thread to find out what this was about... elements are similar and given PI's history it wouldn't be out of the question that they were copied...I didnt' know who did the artwork. So the more important question is, what color should the 1000 be?

I am not aware of the PI history, but regardless, I absolutely take issue with the suggestion that this design has been plagiarised, as it was a design that I developed, regardless of PI history. I am not an employee of PI or anyone else for that matter (relating to poker chips anyway) and any history THEY have is not mine.

MS Patton is upset because, apparently he doesn't like that I also use the "Iron Flower" in my design and I run text around the edges. He feels that since HE's used this element and this technique already, no-one else can do it. He couldn't be MORE wrong. He was not the first and won't be the last.

There is a clear lack of understanding of what constitutes plagiarism in the context of graphic design. I have attempted to explain this to him in private and have, again, posted my justifications here in this thread.

To sum it up ...
The Olympic Logo has 5 circles in it ... does that mean no one can ever use circles in a logo again?

At the end of the day ... when my designs were posted no one .. I MEAN NO ONE ... made any comments suggesting a link between my "Private Cardroom" design and ANYTHING sold by MS Patton or anyone else for that matter. Even the name was acknowledged to have been on a Paulson chip before and we had this checked out before we used it.

On the other hand, when THESE Web Mold Inlays were posted I received a handful of PM's inquiring if I was working with MS Patton.

So it's up for others to decide who is copying who. For me , however, I feel VERY comfortable with my design, it's originality, and the artistic ethics I employed. I sleep very well at night and would not lose a wink of sleep if this were even to go so far as court. - God Forbid.

While I feel that Joe is being too understanding ... I would follow his lead in this and suggest that we just let sleeping dogs lie ... and in truth ... if anyone can produce a design that was designed BEFORE mine and is clearly the same design then I will absolutely retract the design.

People can also stumble across the same idea twice - Bell Vs Gray (Phone) ... I thought I had invented the cheese dog once (I was 6)!! Hey sh*t happens.
(I had actually developed an online bookstore 6 months before Amazon.com went live! My old bosses are now out of business!! LOL)

At the end of the end of the day ... this is and, until someone can prove otherwise, will always be MY design and MY composition, regardless of who gets away with using it. The design in this thread would not exist today if I had not done the PI Private Cardroom chips. And as much of an a-hole as that may sound that's the truth.

Re: Announcing: New "Web Mold" Inlay Chip Design

Garyon,

I do understand between MS and your design.

When I first saw MS post on the web mold I immediately recognize the art work but did know it was you who have them first.

Who design is it? I'm not a law but I do understand the problem at hand.
