The only chip I think is a shoe in is the Chocolate Quarter Pie.
I love the Almond chip but I worry about the body fill on that. As I said before unless we can be guaranteed a proper match it just won't work.
The Red/Pink Quarter is actually a good chip. It can be several chips in one ($5, $500, $5000, etc) | This is an attempt to combine chipNAchair's "fantasy" tourney with Meridian's comments:
I switched the spots on the orange because (1) I wanted the 3U elsewhere and (2) then I'm taking advantage of the similarity in colour, using a spot that (imo) doesn't want nor require a lot of contrast between base and spot colours.
I also switched the chocolate to the "shoe-in" tri-quarter-pie and added the red/pink quarter-pie. I felt that not everyone would want an almond chip as their "white", so I added a white; ditto for the black. Then I added a Sherbet Green "just 'cause" and a blue and yellow because they're necessary.
I found the blue and white options rather limiting. It seems that most votes were cast for "blue with blue/white" and "white with blue/blue", and I can't seem to get them to look unalike (unless I make the white look a lot like the almond, which sort of defeats the purpose of having both - to give choice).
*EDIT* In fact, looking back, I much prefer my white and blue mock-ups in my post above. |

Chips: 48 | | | Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread I'm dreaming of this stuff in my sleep for cryin' out loud! I'd go along with that set up as well, but would still like to see if something could be done with the " BLUES." I think you're almost as bad with that chocolate tri-quarter pie than some of us are with the sherbert green That's a good thing though! |

I haven't submitted any color combos, voted in any of the polls, or posted any mock-ups.

I'm just wondering how on earth a decision is ever going to be made on these. It seems that there are SO many different spot and color combinations for each color and everyone seems to have their own favotrite that - even as a railbird - my head is spinning...i'm just sayin'.

I just wanted to share some more ideas (this is not my suggestion for a progression, but some combos of individual chips to see if anyone likes):

Chips: 48 | | | Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread I think that we may be looking at this as a solution, (just hypothetical). IF it doesn't get to where spot & color combinations can be agreed on, then what we need to do is take all combos that we like and put 'em in a bowl. The one that gets drawn for each color is the winner.....

I miss the pink quarter-pie... It looks really nice! Does anybody NEED a white chip that isn't almond? It's eating up valuable real-estate in my mock-ups, because I don't know if there needs to be a white-white in addition to an almond... That pink quarter-pie would replace my white, and I might steal that black, ... and then change the red to something less pink...
Some people have made some good points about what "other" colours are actually needed. It seems a lot of people like the charcoal chip, but then there should also be a black. I don't think that's a problem. Some questions to think about (and respond to if you have a definite answer): - Do we need both a pink and an orange? If not, which one do we keep?
- Do we really need the chocolate? It's a nice chip, but is anyone actually going to use it in their set?
- Do we need both a white and an almond? The almond w/ coral + plum seems very popular... but does it work for everybody?
- Should we have two purples? Namely, a Lavender and a Laker?
- Which of these is more important? We can't have all of a (Black & Charcoal) + (Pink & Orange) + (Lavender & Laker Purple) + (White & Almond) + (Dark Green & Sherbet Green) + Red + Blue + Yellow + Chocolate... This might be the next poll (if I can figure out a way to put it into a multiple-choice question).
Might be something like, "Which is LEAST important to you?" - Having a Charcoal, in addition to Black.
- Having a Lavender, in addition to Laker Purple.
- Having an Almond, in addition to White.
- Having a Sherbet Green, in addition to Dark Green.
- Having both a Pink and an Orange (instead of just one).
- Having a brown (Chocolate, Gold, Mustard) at all.

4.Having a Sherbet Green, in addition to Dark Green.

6. Having a brown (Chocolate, Gold, Mustard) at all. | 1. I'd say either/or not both.
2. Lavendar ditch Laker
3. Maybe. Almond makes more sense. It can be yellow, it can be white
4. Gotta happen
5. Should maybe be one or the other.
6. The Chocolate seems to be one of the most popular. I'd imagine it's going to be a fractional, 1K, 5K or other mysterious denom.
As I said before I'm primarily interested in a tournament set. I don't think most folks will be getting more than 5 colors, certainly most folks don't need more than 5 colors, so to me the important chips are (traditionally speaking):
Green (preferablly SG)
Black (maybe Charcoal)
Lavendar (mabye Pink)
Yellow/White/Pink (maybe Blue but not likely)
Chocolate
In JDunford's current mock up, Change the Black chip to Black 6A14 Hot Pink/Blood Red, switcht the spot pattern on the Blue and Sherbert Green chip and I'm sold.
Shebert Green 3 Moon Verde
Black 6A14 Hot Pink/Blood Red
Lavendar 4D18 Laker Purple/Light Pink
Canary Yellow 4U Black/Canary Yellow (fill issue still in play here btw) - maybe Blue 358 - maybe Almond 4T18 Plum/Coral
Chocolate 1/4 Pie Gold/Mustard
I'd buy that.
