Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

Just out of curiousity, and hopefully this won't drag things off course, how much does a insert punch cost? I know how much variuos molds have run, but I have no idea on a generic punch. MSP is the only one I know who owns a punch. If it's not classified I'd love to hear.

This is very striking to me.

I'm sorry--I was the first to post a fantasy (Paulson) chip with my group. I was too lazy to recreate it in another set of mockups.

Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

I did some reworking on these and tried to keep to the 1st place colors. The last 4 are random.

No apologies necessary. I hadn't even noticed. And I wasn't pointing at anybody in particular, either; I just felt it was starting to get to the point where there were more "fantasy" spots being shown than ones we can actually use. Just want to get everybody focused again.

I'm not so sure about the Sherbet Green - maybe a few too many shades of green in it for my liking.

And I have a concern about the red/pink chip. Overall, I like it, but I fear that if it's the only red chip in the set, it might not work for everybody... might be too heavy on the pink. For example, a "standard" cash set would be restricted to using the white/blue as fractional/$1 (in either order), since another pink (or lavender) chip would be too similar to the red/pink $5 to be used as a frac. Well, maybe not; there's also the chocolate that could be a fractional, etc., but it was just the first thing that came to mind when I saw it in this mock-up.

Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

Is it me or is this causing headaches while we're trying to figure this stuff out? Don't get me wrong as I don't mind either...LOL! I'm kind partial to the white, almond, charcoal, lavendar & sherbert green myself. OMG....I said "the" words again...SHERBERT GREEEN Now that I think about it, those would make for an interesting set up. Although the almond and white are really close together.

Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

Some of the early mock ups got me to thinking. If you make a couple of likely assumptions, like black and white chips in the main 8 instead of charcoal and almond, we still have a number of other colors to choose the remaining 4 chips from, namely orange, pink, lavender, charcoal, sherbert green (go sherbert, go sherbert!), almond, blue, mustard, etc. I am beginning to think it would be useful to have a NON-BINDING POLL to see what the 4 additional colors should be under those assumptions. Now that we have the possibilities down on the phase 1 completed page. If most people defintitely want a pink and a grey/charcoal and a sherbert green and a mustard, well then those base colors would make sense to design. And so on. This would give some guidance, instead of fooling around with mocks of colors that probably won't make the cut odwn the road when faced with tough choices about what to leave in. Whadd'ya thnk jdunford?

I'm tossing around a couple of ideas like this... I let you (and everybody) know later this week.

In the meantime, I'd like to see what people come up with based on what came out of Round #1. Keep the ideas flowing!

Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

From someone who did a chip like the Orange (mine was Blood Red 618 Hot Pink/Radiant Red) I don't think the Arc Yellow spot will work like you think it will. IMO it will be too close to the base color to stand out. When work in the close shadings you should go much darker or much lighter if possible.

The only chip I think is a shoe in is the Chocolate Quarter Pie.

I love the Almond chip but I worry about the body fill on that. As I said before unless we can be guaranteed a proper match it just won't work.

The Red/Pink Quarter is actually a good chip. It can be several chips in one ($5, $500, $5000, etc)

This is a very nice looking setup. However I would replace the chocolate chip with the 1/4 pie 3 color chip that others have posted. Things are getting exciting!
