Yeah, after looking at the mock-ups, I'm not a fan of the royal red either...however, I've never seen one in person so maybe it is a little more vibrant...

Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

I pushed for Royal Red when this discussion first started, so I'm glad that others are receptive to re-evaluating our Red selection. Here is what BCC's Royal Red looks like (Maniack had these made and listed the color as Royal Red).

Count me in the camp that doesn't want a blue edgespot on any Red, as well.

Are people liking any of the mock-ups? If so, which ones?

Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

OK. I found my Royal Red chip and compared it to the Blood Red chip from the Samurai set. I am now officially a member of the Royal Red Chip. The Blood Red is just too dark - and the Royal Red chip is not as "orangey" as pictures make it look.

Time to go play with the Chip Factory....

Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

Here's my first stab at it using the colors from the OP and after looking at other submissions. I'm not sure why, but the black chip doesn't do it for me here, maybe too much red in the "normal" tourney set. But I think the bottom row is crazy hot!

I LOLed!

I'm thinking in light of recent developments, we might want a re-vote on the red, (dark) green, and black colour schemes (as somebody suggested). The lavender w/ pink + laker purple, quite possibly in a 4d18 configuration, looks nearly unanimous. If we fix it with the white, pink, chocolate, and sherbet green chips, and re-vote on red, (dark) green and black keeping these other colours in mind, that will probably get us to converge quickly.

I'll set it up on Sunday. Entries will probably be open for 3 days, followed by 3 days of voting. And I'll take entries for all 3 of those colours simultaneously, including spot patterns (not just colours). They'll be independent for voting (in case you really like somebody's red but somebody else's black with it, etc.), but you'll be reminded to keep the whole set ("progression") in mind, to avoid the same colours on every chip, etc.

And at some point, we might have to vote between the leading charcoal chips: 6a14 w orange/almond vs. 3t18 w/ peach/mauve/plum. Am I the only person who's in love the the latter?

By the way, I really like this chip:

My only concern is that there might be too much blue going on between it and the white chip (think cash set). Maybe not. It's a hot chip.

I also really like mipevi's recent mock-up. Here's my twist on it:

My only fear is that the red might be too close to the Protege $5... but we'll re-vote on the red anyway. Why do I get the feeling there'll be an overwhelming desire for Royal Red?

Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

I just want to confirm something. Charcoal is darker than what's in the above mock up, right? It seems so from the acutal pictures earlier. My understanding was that it was a bit less dark than the TRK Black in CF, but not that far off. As far as color and pattern I'm obviously in the 6A14 Almond/Orange camp. The other set up does look good but doesn't seem to fit as well IMO.

I'm probably not going to get a Red chip, but it does seem that Royal Red is more Red than the Blood Red (which I love btw). It would seem to me as long as it looks good go with the colors that aren't normally available.

I like the Orange 358 Arc, though I'm still concerned with Arc and Orange being on the same chip. Does anybody have both a live Arc and Orange chip?

Re: TMSC Round #2 - Discussion thread

The charcoal is darker than the images--it's kind of like a gunmetal gray.

I am agreeable with reopening the red or not. I like jdunford's interpretation of mipevi's red. I really like the entire bottom row of jdunford's latest mock, except the yellow. Everyone's contributions are really great.

Forgive me, but I think that is SUCH a boring looking chip. (Of course, just my opinion.) Not liking the blue-on-red AT ALL.

Just one man's opinion, for what that's worth.
