Let me preface this post by saying that I only recently got into collecting chips, though I've had an interest in them (from a gaming perspective) for many years. That said, here are a couple of my favorites from my small (but growing) collection:

First is a chip that will be familiar to anyone who's paid attention to the famous poker scene on the train in the movie 'The Sting'. These yellow chips were used (in that film) as $500 checks.

Second is a chip I don't really know much about. I have not been able to find out if the initials 'JW' represent a private club or just belong to an individual. I also have a moss green chip with these same initials.

Great topic, by the way.

Best regards,
Allan B.

Don't know much about this, aside from that it reads "One dollar gaming token." I would imagine it came from a slot machine or something, but it's practically a chip, so I thought I would post it. IIRC, my father has some very old chips as well, I'll see if I can convince him to dig them up.

Edit: I apologize for the shadow, but what do you expect with a long-zoom lense?

WOW! The Stardust chip came in two different (but the same) versions. On one side of the chip's metal insert there is a date. It is either 1 74, or 4 76, meaning January, 1974 or April, 1976! Otherwise the two are the same. What is of real interest is that that $5 chip can retail for about $100!

The Riviera is also a nice chip, to the tune of $75 retail. Not bad appreciation for a $1 chip from the mid 60's! Also, the only Horesehead molded $1 chip from the Riviera.

As a side note, the horsehead faces right. In chip collecting circles this is know as Horse Head Right, or HHR. HHR's are a fairly common mold, while HHL (left) is unusuall.

Nice chips!

That Stardust chip is beautiful. The inlay is amazing.
