History of The Casino at Ritz Carlton chips?

I am interested in the history of the Ritz Carlton Chips. Why are they so expensive? Why aren't they in use at the Casino anymore? Where did they come from and how did those of you who are lucky enough to have them GET them? Why are some of them brand new, but the $100s are used???

What chips does the Ritz Carlton use now? What made them change?

I know there is a lot of questions above, but I am very curious. Thanks ya'll!

Jeremy

P.S. If you have a large set of these, I hate you!

Re: History of The Casino at Ritz Carlton chips?

here is what i know:

-chips were in use down at the ritz carlton in san juan, PR
-chips ($25 and up) were used as credit chips for customers with markers and have been taken out of circulation - not sure what is used now
-lower denom chips are still in use
-NJ bought them somehow and sold them on the open market

*most info from william phillip, gm of casino down there.

hope this helps some

Re: History of The Casino at Ritz Carlton chips?

Take my answer as a grain of salt. This is also IMO.

Why are they so expensive? They are beautiful set, only 15k of chips total demons start from 25/100/500/1000/5000. Supply and demand drive price up. There are very few set that has $500's in large size 43mm. Very unique. Also, any chips from that area are very high in demand.

Where did they come from and how did those of you who are lucky enough to have them GET them? The chips itself is from Ritz Carlton. The main supplier was Nevada Jack.net. I belief he purchase all 15K of them. Some of us are lucky because we paid for them. If you want to purchase them I know someone who has it available.

Why are some of them brand new, but the $100s are used. Out of 15,000 chips I belief there were about 1500 were mint. Joe at Nevada Jack assemble the best set and he sold it to Homeempokerchips (Only 500 of them). Once of the Cters here purchase from HPC I belief it was ontheuppick.

My understanding the 100's was most common use at Ritz. There were not any mint 100's but they are still in excellent condition tho.

I hope this help.

Legend made them an offer they couldn't refuse. Those chips were too nice to be handled by a bunch of tourists, even if they were rich ones.
