I started to build a set as well a few years back and found it expensive and slow. You very rarely saw auctions for big quantities. What you may want to consider are the BCC version. Here's a scan of my sample sets. Paulsons on top, BCC on the bottom.
Whilst it is a good idea to save money and purchase the BCC versions, it feels a bit like "you're only cheating yourself", will be such a better achievement to save up for longer, look for longer and make your paulson set imo.

In a way you're right. At the same time I was building several other sets and after a while I made the tough decision and 'sacrificed' the Vineyards for the others.
Thats fair enough, a full set of Vineyards is my dream set.....one day..one day.

i am always amazed at the history that keeps comeing up about the vineyard casino. these are the chips that stole my heart and forever hooked me into paying between 1 and 20 dollars for a single poker chip. that building is beautiful.
