Re: History of Zieglers card room chips

Ok who needs to go to work (just kidding I can work from home if I need/want to)

I looked through the chips reall quickly to try and find some to post. A couple points from my quick run through
  • Most of the boxes they came in say "C. J. Lisk Co" and have an address and phone number from LV
  • The black/pink $1's and the red/green $5's are mostly in bad shape. I tried to pull a sample from each that would show up well on a scan. They were mostly worn to point where the foil from the hot stamp was gone but you could see the imprint on some for the denom.
  • The black/yellow $20 chips are much better condition (see pic below)
  • The non denom chips vary in condition I picked a couple that would scan well
  • I included the "Matty" $1 chips that came in the lot too
  • There were "Western Pool Club" chips (I guess you could call them chips - they are probably more like tokens
  • There were also the edge spot starburst chips that you he seen pics of on CT included in this lot
Let me know your thoughts on the chips
J

First the best chips in the lot (of the Zieglers) the $20

The $5 - not in great shape as mentioned

The $1 - these are in bad shape too - the $1 hot stamp is basically non exsistent on most of the chip. I didn't have time to look through them all

Non Denoms

This one is supposed to be Mauve w/ white spots but the scanner killed the colors

The "Matty" large crown chips

The "western Pool club"

I'll see what the California people have to say. Thanks for posting the scans.

Re: History of Zieglers card room chips

Just a little update - if the latest info from the chipboard (so far been fairly helpful - thanks again Jim) is right the $20 chips have a value of $10-$22 each. That is really good news if it is true

Re: History of Zieglers card room chips

But will they hold that value after xxx examples are known from the lot you purchased?

I totally agree which is why I asked about quantities in the chipboard thread. It's not like I have hundreds of them - I think the most I ahve of any of the good ones is.........................

Smile Check out Richard Staeffler's and John Kallman's site

Better photos and updated from the Eastman guide. Unfortunately, no prices, just chip references.
