Chip Colors Needed

Okay after some intensive research I have come up with the following list of accepted chip colors and the associated value. Now I need some help from the pros to fill in the blanks.

Here is the AC list:

Atlantic City Chip Colors
50¢- Mustard Yellow
$1- White
$2-
$2.50-Pink
$3-
$5- Red
$10- Blue
$20- Yellow
$25- Green
$100- Black
$500- Purple
$1000- Fire Orange
$5000- Gray
$10000-

Okay so I have some blanks in there and I also know that I am probably missing some chip values as well (like a $50 chip?). If anybody can help with colors, missing values, or possible provide some more links to places I can do more research I would greatly appreciate it!!

(I should add that I know in other parts of the world these colors are used for different denoms. I am just trying to come up with a consistent list for myself.)

Thanks,

Captn

Intensive research, huh?

You could've just sent someone a message. We're always just a click away.

Re: Chip Colors Needed

Yeah I could have just asked, but I am a teacher. I teach my kids to look for the answer on your own first, then when you get stuck you ask for help. Its the best way to learn.

That and I don't want to be like some other newbs who never use the search function!

Re: Chip Colors Needed

After some discussion via pm with another member I have realized that AC doesn't have all the chips/colors/values I am looking for.

Does anybody know what is customary for these values: (If not customary what colors have you seen these used for these values?)

$2-
$3-
$7.50-
$8-
$15-
$50-

Are there any other values of chips that have been used in casinos that I don't have listed here? (i.e. does a $12.50 exist?)

Thanks for any and all info!

Re: Chip Colors Needed

I couldn't give you anything customary for $3's, $50's, $20's.

It's really anything goes in odd amounts. If you want to start exploring the vintage card rooms of California, then here's the best place I can recommend:

http://cashcoinconnection.com/gaming...CardRooms.html

They have hundreds of scans--- $3 / .5 cent /.10 cent

In the history thread, I placed a direct link to the Monterey & Rainbow rooms of Gardena. They both used $3's.

You got these right, and the ones that are missing have never been made (meaning that if a casino wants to get one made its an act of the NJ government to come up with a color --- and if they cant agree on a budget how the heck can they come up with a color). And the 50cent was made in blue (they changed the rules in '82, the only AC 50cent was made prior to that).

A couple of years ago, Tropicana was thinking about a $3 or $4 chip for their poker room, after starting the process they decided against it. In LV there is no consensus among the casinos - or even within the casino however many of the casinos uses red for $5.

Here's an example - four $1 chips from Binions Horseshoe, an early one (50's), then 80's, then Harrahs in 2004, then MTR in 2005. All different colors.

Or how about

These are all from my personal collection. I have about 5000 chips in my collection and I keep the scans online at my website (www.poppel.com/chips). Usually I just do a copy image location using my browser and paste the link into the message.

The other two sites I can recommend is Paul Hegge's Silver State Treasures (www.silver-state-treasures.com) for Nevada Chips and Greg Susong's Chipguide (www.chipguide.com).

Captn,

There are numerous collector website where the collectors maintain images of chips in their collections. There are also some collector site, where they try to maintain current scans of all chips for as many casinos as possible.

The main site is: ChipGuide.com

With a focus on Native American casinos across the US and Riverboat casinos, it is an extension of thechipboard.com, where webmaster Greg Susong is maintaining chip collector heaven!!!!!!

From his ChipGuide homepage there is a map of the US, where every State that has gaming (or had gaming) is hot-linked to one or more websites that maintain a gallery of chips.

From there you can reach the premiere gallery sites of Archie Black for all Atlantic City chips, Paul Hegge's SilverStateTreasures for many Nevada chips, etc.

I suggest you visit and explore and please remeber, there is an extreme amount of time and effort involved in acquiring these scans. In the event that you use them elsewhere, be sure to give credit to the siurce.

Here is the link to ChipGuide.com: http://www.chipguide.com/
