The Monterey, located in Gardena, was one of the early card clubs in California. It was founded in 1940, and closed forever in 1984. It neighbored the Rainbow Club, connected by a covered walkway, with a bar that served both establishments. Multiple people shared ownership in both poker rooms. The Hustler Club, operated by Larry Flynt now stands where the two were once located.
