Pinups - Your opinion on NJ Composite marbling effect on edg

We should start talking about edges now. Johnny5 has given me a lot of ideas so far, but wanted to ask opinions on one thing: Marbling.

The NJ skulls (and now the Desert Sands) have a marbling effect that I personally love. I've liked it from the first time I saw these chips stacked up. Problem is, I know a lot of people feel the opposite.

In general, what do you think of the marbling? [only two poll options, no in-betweens]

Looks cool to me, especially in stacks.

Prefer the NJ over the DS just slightly, but will buy either.

Not a Marble Fan

I'm not a Marble Fan. The Sample set I have only seems to distract your attention away from the actual edgespots. Don't know exactly how it will end up looking with the A.B. set??

i love the chips and own a whole mess 'o em, but the marbelized are just plain weird. they don't match the face, and are distracting. they look cool, but don't help the gestalt .

not a fan.

love the marbling, though I think it looks 100X better on the DS (with contrasting colors) vs the skulls with the same brown on each.

IMHO, the marbling effect looks great on the Nevada Jacks pictured, however, I don't think they would work on the American Beauties set. The marbling would make the A. B.'s look too cluttered. They would be more "crisp" and classy with the plain colored edge spots. The marbling would be too much of a distraction from the basic beauties! So my vote is no...

I just don't think that the marble look is going to work with the picture background on the face of the chip.

Might I suggest that if you did a table image with several of the chips laying about we might be able to see what the effect would be outside of a stack of chips.

I personnally agree with the earlier post that the marbleing on the DS looks better then the NJ with the brown edge spot that relates to the face in no way.

Later,
Bruce

I'll let opinions pile up for another day or so and let you know.
