Samurai Palace inlay options (revisited)

Here's a few of the things you all have been talking about, with a few of my own ideas. All three on the left are the same but since someone had brought up the point that the text may not look right on other denominations I made a few examples up (#4 is the original with the exception that I brightened up the font). There were issues with this over all concept that I had not considered; because each one requires a different amount of characters, the point size has to be adjusted to bring the type together at the end so each chip will have a slightly different size font. As you can see it’s pretty minor and I don’t think it will be much of an issue at actual size but you can tell if you look for it.

Also, now that I look at it again it seems that #1 and #2 are a little fuzzy. I am confident that with a little adjustment I can clean up the font and make it a bit more bold so its more legible.. If anyone was concerned.

I am a little confused by the fact that there were two #4 options on the poll. I hope I picked the right one.

I like the slightly brighter text around the border. I've already said enough about why elsewhere, and even though it is only a slight adjustment here, I think it makes a difference. I'd still like to see it in white, but I am satisfied with a slightly slighter shade of grey.

I like the "one dollar" and the "twenty five" around the edges. The "One Hundred Dollars" might still be better off losing the "dollars" just so that every chip has just two words. But I like it how it is just fine. I think that anyone worried about what the other denominations would look like printed out that way should be satisfied.

Thank you for posting these changes. You've done an excellent job!

If I had to go with a right hand image, I like #2 the best.

Actually the text is white. Because it's some what thin it is difficlut to tell. I can adjust it so its a bit more bold probably, that should help.

Just one point for clarification then, the first #4 choice on the poll is for the inlay with the white framing text, and the second #4 choice is for the same inlay design but with text in the old gray? Correct?

Think it makes sense to have a seperate poll for #1, #2, #3. Then put the winner of that against #4. since it is basically numbered denom or not.
#1 as my vote

I just think that the #1 design looks somehow "genuine" so to speak, anyway, I decided by saying"if I were to order one of these, what would it be?" Of course, if ALL were available, I would probably put together a mixed set...

I agree. I like #1, even though I had also suggested trying the other fonts. After seeing them I think #1 looks the most professional.
Looks like #1 is taking the lead... still think the numbered denoms should have their own poll.

The funny thing is that I was one of the first people to voice my favor of #1 in the last poll, but I have converted to the #4 (new white font) because I still argue that in a traditional Japanese theme, simplicity better reflects the culture. But in the end if #1 wins, I always liked that one too. This is a great design, and these are minor issues. If BC delivers a product as good as this promises to be, it will be awesome regardless of the font, etc.

I just hope that this chip doesn't suffer from the usual BC quality issues. The weight should be an improvement even at 9.6 grams. But I hope the inlays are consistently circular and centered, and that the chip isn't too hard and slippery. Those are all problems I've seen with BC, and I'm really hoping that this one is better on all of those counts as well as the weight issue.

One thing is for sure though, the willingness of BC to even discuss changing weight, mold, etc. suggests that they are much more devoted to customer service than Paulson. So just for that they have earned a couple of points in my book.

Paulson's attitude with all of their 2005 home chips seems to be that the worst they give us is still better than anything we can get elsewhere so we'll just take it and be happy. Sadly, that may be true. But I think it would be great if BC delivered a product that showed Paulson that when it comes to home chips they do have some competition. We'll see when they arrive though. My fingers are crossed!

Yes, I agree a more subdued look gives a sort of "subdued martial" feeling - which is more culturally accurate (also i would think it reflects the art of the orient more accurately - the delicacy) and I would still buy the #4 for sure - in fact, if both were available - I'd probably buy both, I suppose that overly complicates things
