Chips: 157 | | | Matsui (no edge spot) location poll OK so here is the poll for Matsui location choices. Sorry if I kinda took over here, just following suggestions. I have listed all the choices that have interest shown in the location thread. My suggestion is to run this poll until midnight EST on Friday at which point the top 3 choices will compete in a final poll that will end on Monday at midnight EST. This should accomodate for the possibilty of split votes and should give people a chance to lobby for their choices, while still moving forward with this buy. |

Chips: 157 | | | Just FYI:
Of the choices given there is legalized gambling and casinos in existence in Tahiti, St. Kitts, Tenerife and Costa Rica.
Hawaii and Mexico do not have casinos (although there is a Mexican casino proposal currently being considered).
I mention this only because I would much rather have a fantasy chip set that could in fact be a REAL casino somewhere. Of the choices given my favorite 2 are Playa Negra, C.R. and Los Gigantes, Tenerife. I am not really swayed by whether one location is more exotic than another because this depends entirely on where you live. I know this because I am originally from Great Britain and Americans view the Mediterranean as "exotic" (places like the Spanish Balearics, Malta, and Greek Islands) but I assure you that to a European Florida is more "exotic" than any of these places, and the same holds true for Hawaii and the Caribbean being "exotic" to Europeans more than Americans. Because of this I have put much more emphasis on aesthetics (how does the name SOUND), and storyline behind the name. The stories behind the Hawaiian places are great, but there are no casinos in Hawaii. I think Playa Negra and Los Gigantes both sound cool, both of these places actually have casinos and have black sand beaches. The closer for me Playa Negra directly translated means "black beach". I don't think it could be more perfect.

Chips: 11 | | | I voted for the one I came up with, Ascension Bay. But I really like Palmetto Bay as well. |

Chips: 6,503 | | I have no clue, I think bubbafry is kinda running this one so maybe he can post up.
As far as shelving it, this was never intended on being a shotgun group purchase since very little is known. I beleive we are waiting on sample sets, as well as pricing, for the new molds which are due in early June. At that time things will likely progress quicker, in which case the ASM buy will be over so I honestly think things are going somewhat according to plan.
In the meantime I am taking advantage of the ASM buy; I figure that way I will not be jonesing so much for chips because I will get the ASM's first, then a month or two later the Matsui's will arrive.

I've been pretty busy, so I haven't been able to keep on top of things. Sorry.
Edit: also, I agree about the timing of this purchase. We don't know a lot of details, so I imagine this one will take awhile to develop. ACEPokerchips will get samples soon and will have more details about pricing, so it'll be easier to generate more interest then. But still, I think it's a good idea to get all the design issues settled reasonably quickly. |
