Some may have been following and others may not. In the Mock-Upd forum I posted a dragon design thread . It was decided that it needed a better name and I opened the floor to name proposals and promised to let the CT community vote on the final name to appear on the chip.

So I have collected a number of name proposals and as promised and have posted this poll to determine what the CT community liked the best.

Here are the final comps of the chips with the old name, "Poker Players Lair", still in place ... I have posted the ideas that were submitted above in the poll. The poll will be closed on April 25th (one week) ... at that time I will incoporate the winning name into the design and submitr it for approval and proofs from BCC.

Here are the stories behind the 4 ideas I had ... I kinda like that they have some historical background.


1.Ladon's Lair : Guardian of Hera's golden apple tree. The constellation "Draco" is based upon this dragon

2. The Dread Biter - Dragon named Nidhoggr who lived at the foot of the world tree, from which all life descends. He bites at the roots of the tree threatening all life. Hence he was known as "The Dread Biter"

3. Fafnir's Blood - Fafnir was once a humanoid (giant or dwarf, depending on the source) who was transformed into a dragon covered with impenetrable scales. Fafnir's blood was caustic, however, when his blood is tasted it gives one the ability to hear another's thoughts and understand the language of birds.

4. Jormungandr's Tail - He is noted for his poisonous breath and as the enemy of Thor. Jormungandr lived in the water that surrounds the human world and eventually grew so long he lived all around the world at once and started to eat his own tail.

I am going to vote last so as not to bias the vote. But I will be happy with any of the suggestions presented.

The problem with all of these is they are too obscure for your typical poker player IMO. You'll end up with the same silly questions every time you use them, what's xxxxx mean? Who is xxxxx? I think you have to make is something more generic or maybe a double entendre.

I'd recommend seeing if anyone here knows anything about latin or linguistics in general, and see what they can come up with.

By the way, your BCC mock-ups look great. I have a friend who will drool when he sees these... and will DEFINITELY want a sample set - maybe more.

I voted for "Dragon's Lair Poker", although I also liked what I thought I had read recommended. Just "Poker Lair" or "Player's Lair".

If I had been read any of those dragon stories as a child, I'd be all over them. Alas, I wasn't read stories as a child and have no attachment to them and hadn't even heard of any of them.

I remember liking Puff the magic dragon though.

BTW, I hope you pick the one you like best. Thanks for letting us provide input.

I must confess a strong bias in this direction. I LOVE the look and 'feel' of the latin! It seems appropriate to the Dragon subject.
