Black Sands Resort & Casino: Mold: Fonts

This is a public pole. It will run for 7 days (ending Sunday, March 26th, 2006)

Which of these fonts do you like best? The font will be reverse facing (away from the inlay) as is shown on the last two rather than inward-facing as on the first image.

.........................Snowblind.......................

........................Brush Script......................

..........................Blackjack.......................

None?

Has it already been decided to go with writing as the custom mold? I really liked the direction the original Matsui GB was going with the trees or swimming turtles. These just look like cheaper versions of the Paulson home chip mold.....not a flame or anything, just one person's opinion.

My vote is for BlackJack. It's far less common than Brush Script, and SnowBlind is better looking than Brush, but I personally think they both lean a little too severely for type on a circle. It's less readable.

BlackJack, definitely BlackJack.

Yeah, pretty much. See ->this<- link. As for cheaper version of the Paulson Home mold, the inspiration chips are the old Dunes and Sands chips.

I agree that they lean too much more so with Snow Blind IMO and yes they are fairly common. I liked Snow Blind at first but it for some reason has this arabian look or something that has been less appealing to me as of late.

Suggest away.

Yes, please suggest. I can't disagree with your thoughts BlondWidow, but I also HATE the Blackjack script.

Fins, perhaps this is something you and I can continue to work out?

Re: Black Sands Resort & Casino: Mold: Fonts

I think it's a bit unfair to poll these three ideas with the top font not having been placed around the chip with the baseline on the outside, as the other two are. That will affect the "slantedness" appearance.

I think the decision about the mold font is important, but shouldn't be divorced from the decision about the font on the inlay itself. Is Avant Garde the final decision about the inlay font? Or could the script font chosen for the mold be used for at least the "Black" Sands part of the inlay?

Seems strange to poll these separately.

Barring any technical problems (i.e. text too small when printed), the inlay is finished.

Seems strange to poll what separately?

Well, when you start off with a script, which slants by nature, it doesn't matter too much on what baseline it rests. It will still slant. Most of the time, the problem is that some slant so much that they end up giving the appearance of a circular saw blade or like it's "falling off" or something. It's just something you have to be conscious of when using a script. I don't think these 3 necessarily slant too much, I just prefer the one which slants the least.

LOL. I'm in advertising, so you'll have to excuse my cynicism... People at work always say that if you show someone a range of ideas, and you aren't crazy about all of them, the person will invariably pick the one you like the least. I guess I've been around my clients too long or something.
