Chips: 450 | | | Canadian Pride repoll - Clay or Ceramic Repolling for the choice between clay and ceramic, just because of the new ideas we have seen, and to give some latecomers a choice. |

Chips: 1,577 | | | Re: Canadian Pride repoll - Clay or Ceramic I'd have to say ceramics (Chipco), for a couple of reasons:
1. They're cheaper than the alternatives (NJ, ASM, etc.) at higher order levels, and the price breaks appear to be more easily reached for what is essentially a niche group buy.
2. Design freedom - whatever graphics or designs we'd use would have a bit more freedom in terms of detail and color (we have the whole chip, as opposed to a small inlay).
3. Allows us to move a bit faster and keep buyer interest - odds are, there's probably only a few members who would make a significant purchase of these chips, and the longer the design phase takes, the more likely they will become interested in other GBs.
Note this is no way influenced by the fact I've done some "prelim" designs. Since I don't have access to a TR King "blank", I couldn't do a clay design and post it... but after looking at how long some of the other clay GBs have taken (especially when deciding edgespots) and the restrictions we'd have with inlay details, I think ceramic is the way to go. |

Chips: 201 | | | Re: Canadian Pride repoll - Clay or Ceramic I voted ceramics, they seem to give more freedom with regards to design. Plus I think they're generally cheaper to buy. Although I probably won't buy any, since I can't afford it right now, I'll probably still chime in with my input. Maybe Dawnsboy will let me come over and play with his chips.

Chips: 11,942 | | | Re: Canadian Pride repoll - Clay or Ceramic I'm going to say Ceramic as well, as I really like the full-face graphics and sheer freedom that they offer in respects to design. Though I wouldn't necessarily limit yourselves to Chipco. The BP Pro's or whatever they're called (Tiki Denom's) look and feel great, no spinners in my samples and the graphics appear sharper than the NJ American Beauties. Something to consider. Just a thought, has anyone considered the Avro Arrow as a theme for the Canadian chip? A nice bit of history and could be a good theme... Not that I'm biased towards the aviation theme... Chips: 450 | | | Re: Canadian Pride repoll - Clay or Ceramic I do have samples of the two new ceramic chips en route so i will also be able to give an objective opinion oon the quality of them. As far as an Avro Aroow theme goes, that would be difficult to put into a set, unless you decided to put together a set of great Canadian acheivements(zipper, telephone, Superman), which might be a possibility, but I still like the animal theme, but that is what polls are for, right? |
