Framed Samurai Color Samples

Or as I like to call them, the Samurai prototypes.

These were some of the first (if not the first) test runs chips that were made and then given to Eli (CNC) for color approval.
Some were actually given to ACEpokerchipco ((who was the original retailer to sign on for the GB) by Eli for review. After the GB reigns were passed to HPC, ACE put together a huge lot of sample chips which just so happened to include these samples.

See: A Serious Sample Set!

Jamby (of course) snatched up the auction and then was gracious enough to work out trade with me.
All of a sudden, BOOM! Ive got 6 of the 8 denoms....

Then Eli stepped in and provided me with both the $5k and .25 cent samples...(with extras of some of the other denoms even! ).

The cards were provided only days ago by ink_junkie. He knew they belonged with me (!) and he was right.
I wasnt sure how to frame these chips...I had been trying to come up with ideas, when the cards showed up and fell right into play. Plastic coated Geisha Fournier cards...a perfect fit. (they even have a killer gold/blue foil)

I cant thank Eli and jamby enough..i never would have bothered w/ framing if I hadnt aquired all the denoms. You two made that happen and Im super grateful.

These chips arent much to look at. The finished product is much more frame worthy. But the little story I have w/ them and the fact that im a Samurai freak makes these chips pretty special to me.

here's some pics...I have to correct some centering issues (im no framer)...but you get the idea...

The $5000 on the Sun mold...MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

The .25er....

The whole enchilada...

They look very nice Boon. I wish I had thought to do it myself! Enjoy!

Re: Framed Samurai Color Samples

Boon, those chips ARE great to look at. How cool is that? Not only the way that you acquired the set, but the very nature of your love for all things Samurai. I've got a set of Rodin drawings that were early versions of later finished and popular work. Those drawings were the foundation for something great and so are your Samurai prototype chips.

Kudos to ink_junkie as well for the awesome find on the cards. What a sweet framed work the lot has made.

Just great.

Re: Framed Samurai Color Samples

Nice job Boon -

I framed the sample set I bought - but just put suited speed cloth behind them - yours has the story to go with it - Chuck would be proud.

Re: Framed Samurai Color Samples

After dozens of emails and PM's with Eli asking that he and/or Michael offer the chips with a different inlay, I have finally purchased a sample. Wow. They are nicer than I thought. This is a great piece of memorabilia.

Couple shots of the framed ones and then just the xtras...

The base colors are funky on most of these...Isthmus inlays as well....all super cool in my book.
