Chips: 4,436 | | | Already done? Maybe this has been done, or can't be done for some reason.
What if one of us registered a legitimate business whose primary purpose was to facilitate group buys? That way would would have the tax ID number and whatever else manufacturers required to sell at a wholesale level.
Kind of like a food cooperative if anyone is familiar with that.
I don't know the technical in's and out's of such an undertaking, but I'd be willing to look into it if there was support from others.

Chips: 23 | | | If you're going to start a business, why not start one that will actually pay you for the time you put into it? Unless you're a full time poker player, I don't see how spending time to setup a company to buy chips, makes fiscal sense. |

Chips: 4,436 | | This concept seems to be really bugging some of you guys. I think you may be starting to see why I'm in a helping profession (psychologist) rather than the business world. I simply thought this would be a novel way to get great prices for all of those who are interested and already doing group buys from time to time. I would obviously expect to cover whatever expense there was to me, but assuming that the organizing of the group buys is done by others, I'm not looking for any income here.
If it makes you guys feel better, I can charge a 1% fee on all group buys. Quote: |

I'm thinking that this would not be a non-profit, since I am familiar with those and I think it would take very creative accounting to make this meet the requirements.
Basically, I'm thinking it would be a for-profit company that doesn't make profits.
Of course, I think the best option is for someone like bostonpokerchips.com to step in and help through an existing business. |

Chips: 6,503 | | I think an even better idea would be for you to apply for a casino gaming license, then we could take full advantage of our creative minds here and get to work on some amazing, full custom chips. No more bending to the wills of the giants like Paulson's and no more home market constraints.

Chips: 4,436 | | Alex's Casino, where everyone wins.
Not too likely, although I like your thinking.
While we're thinking on a grand scale, why not open a chip manufacturing business and skip the middleman entirely?
I'll bet the people on this site alone could support a small scale operation if the product was good enough. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
