Chips: 4,436 | | | Already done? Maybe this has been done, or can't be done for some reason.
What if one of us registered a legitimate business whose primary purpose was to facilitate group buys? That way would would have the tax ID number and whatever else manufacturers required to sell at a wholesale level.
Kind of like a food cooperative if anyone is familiar with that.
I don't know the technical in's and out's of such an undertaking, but I'd be willing to look into it if there was support from others.

Chips: 13,224 | | | Hmm, very good point. Unless you are a real chip junkie and want some of every group buy! Other than that it would seem like alot of work.

Chips: 7,134 | | | Especially for free! C'mon... people need to get real. If you seriously think you would enjoy doing this sort of thing with no benefit to yourself (i.e. no income, not actually wanting the chips), then I really suggest you get out more... and that's pretty sad if I'm telling you that. |

Chips: 13,224 | | | You could always do what I did a few years back when I wanted to get electronic stuff wholesale. Just make up a company name and call the distributors and place an order as the company. You'll find some who won't ask for any proof that you're a real company and will deal with you as though you are. Just say you don't have a tax exempt number and will pay the sales tax if applicable.

Chips: 4,436 | | How is this in any way different from the current group buys which demand a huge amount of organization?
Again, the idea is that this provides a point of purchase at wholesale prices. Each buy would not have to be managed by me (or whoever), it would just be placed under the company name. Quote: |

Chips: 4,436 | | What I'm proposing would be no different from current group buys which are arranged by those who are interested. This would just give you a business to order it through. Quote: |

I can't see how you could have the same enthusiasm doing this when you aren't really interested in it.

Chips: 4,436 | | It seems to me that you would be the perfect solution if you were willing to help out from time to time. As you noted, this obviously doesn't fit a business model in any way, but then again, the group buys are happening here anyway, so it isn't like you'd be losing business. If anything, it might motivate members to use your shop for other purchases. Quote: |

I am not sure it would be worth the time or effort for an individual to setup up such an entity.
