Chips: 554 | | | Custom Pharaoh Plaque My original thought was a customized Pharaoh Case, I had to find a case where the Case solid Wood (NOT VENEERED) for a custom pharoah inlay. I thought and was told by pokerchips.com that their Walnut cases were solid Walnut ......They Are NOT. I found this out after My wood man, Keith Josey, used his 15,000 dollar CNC machine to cut the Pharaoh Inlay out. Until this Point PokerChips.com was great to me even though I had to wait a whole month for the 1000 chip Walnut Case. Now, I'm sending them an email trying to show that the Lid of the case is a Walnut Veneer over Pine or Spruce...some type of White Wood. Anyway, Now I have a 1000 and 500 chip case that I specifically bought for this custom inlay, 710 dollars plus shipping and handling. The office manager and I were talking it out and I don't like confrontations or disputes. I asked her if the Walnut cases were solid Walnut, She replied Yes. I told her about the inlay showing White wood underneath. She replied that her furniture man stands by it as solid Walnut.....But Then she said that we were getting into "He said She Said" stuff. I replied " You are not saling the product you are representing." Office Manager " That is the way we make our Walnut Cases, Email me some pictures and I'll give it to the owner". I finally lost my cool and replied that I would cut the lid in half and take a picture of it and send it to her and the Better Business Bureau. I didn't cut it in half but I took some pictures of the cut out showing the White Wood.
So, That is where I'm at with Pokerchips.com Walnut case. A case that has chips off the Walnut Veneer in the pharoah cut out (That's the reason you can't inlay veneer cases).
This is like ordering a true clay chip and breaking one in half to find a washer!!! | | Sponsored Links | |

Chips: 554 | | | Sorry about the lighting Sorry about the lighting.
Also, It is a work in progress because he has not put a nice finished edge on it for Plaque appearance. Trust Me, I won't get it until it's perfect...That is Keith's Style. |

Is the plaque for wall mounting or is it the the lid of the case?
Is this along the lines of what the case you've been talking about will look like?

Chips: 554 | | | The Plaque This Plaque will be hung on my wall after he finishes the edges to give it that rounded plaque appearance.
The same design was attempted on the Pokerchips.com Walnut case......The Veneered Walnut pulled off in a lot of places. I was told it was Solid Walnut, just emailed them about it. |

This is like ordering a true clay chip and breaking one in half to find a washer!!! | Yikes! I have one of those cases. I thought it was solid walnut. The sides and chiptrays still look like solid walnut to me. Maybe the veneer is just on the top?
Hopefully, you'll be able to return it or get a refund.
BTW: Isn't there a way to machine veneered surfaces without chipping out the veneer? Maybe by clamping a sacraficial board over the veneer?

My top lid has a burlwood inlay, so it's possible it's not a veneer (at least the burlwood part). Not real happy to hear of this. Let us know what Cathy comes back to you with.
The plaque looks fantastic, BTW! |

Chips: 552 | | | I wish I had a wood shop at home so that I can make myself a really nice poker chip case. I just can't bear to spend that much money on it. I loved wood shop back in high school - I made an old style clock that still runs. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
