American Beauties - Pinups Group Buy - [group buy closed]

The group buy is over, but these chips can be purchased at retail price at many outlets. Two sponsors sell these chips:

NevadaJacks.net

HoldemPokerChips.com

Original post:

Use the "ORDER NOW" Form to buy your chip set

A Sexy New Chip Set:

We are building a unique set of chips with modern yet classic styled pinup girls. The chips with be produced by Nevada Jack using their casino grade composite chips. The original paintings are the highest of quality, and done by one of the masters of American fantasy art, Greg Hildebrandt.

What I was looking for in pinup art was something that could be both classic and very sexy. I wanted the style of a 1940's pinup, but with a touch of modern raciness. I wanted a set of chips that you'd love to look at but are classy enough to use at just about any home game.

I think we found the perfect art for this project, The hard part was narrowing down the 35 choices to eight or so. By eliminating all the nude paintings, we got it down to roughly 18. Now we will choose 8-12 of Greg's paintings for the final set. Each chip will have a different girl and will be a differently themed color.

The Chips!

Nevada Jacks works wonders, printing chips fast! Here are photos of the actual chips! Click on the thumbnail for a larger version.

The Girls:

These are the original paintings that we had to choose from. There are some very nice ones that you won't see here because they are nudes. Visit Spiderwebart.com for more "explicit" images.

Here are the final design mockups that we made prior to printing. The over-bright images were necessary to get the proper prints on the actual chips. Click on the thumbnail for a larger version.

About Greg:

Original paintings are done by Greg Hildebrandt. Greg has started the "American Beauties" series in his retirement. Before retiring he worked closely with his brother Tim on art and film since the 1960's. He is famous for work on Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel Comics and more. We have an exclusive contract to use Greg's American Beauties on high end poker chips!

Here are some great paintings by the Hildebrandts:

Spiderwebart Gallery, owned by Greg Hildebrandt, is the exclusive representative of Greg and Tim Hildebrandt's Artwork.
They are extremely proud to offer his original paintings, sketches and giclée prints for your viewing pleasure and for purchase.

*Note: While this is a collaborative effort among many poker chip enthusiasts, I retain all rights for the designs and decisions. Polls are for gathering opinions and usually the results are followed, but I can change designs at any time. - Greg Cagle

Re: American Beauties - Pinups Group Buy - SALE GOING ON NOW!!!!

Spinners suck, I do like the overall design tho

However makes me wonder what has changed in the manufacturing of the chips with Nevada Jacks. It seems that several people have skulls now that are spinners too, I ordered samples of some skulls just to get a feel for the chips prior to the AB group buy, and all 7 of my sample chips are perfectly flat no spinners.

I am not encouraged about the QC for these chips and having read the other forum threads about skulls having the same problem makes me leary of particpating in future group buys. Yes I did order some Samuri's and I am holding my breath, hoping that they are better.

Are spinners common in casinos?

Re: American Beauties - Pinups Group Buy - SALE GOING ON NOW!!!!

I have not noticed many spinner in casinos. I personally do not mind the amount of spinners in the AB set. The Samurai set is being manufactured by a different company and should not have any spinners at all.

BTW, I'm selling an extra AB sample set display box here on the CCB:

Re: American Beauties - Pinups Group Buy - [group buy closed]

Ok, now how about some feedback from all you AB Chip owners, what do your players, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends think of them?

I have to say most poker players really appreciate them. The discussion is usually over which girl is the "hottest" and I have a couple of women who play regularly also, one thinks they are nice chips the other thinks they are degrading to women.

What has your experience been?

So far they have been great conversation pieces and men and women both like them. Guys tend to find a favorite, and then "protect" those in their stack when betting. For example, I had a stack of them at work in the break room and we were playing with all chips being equal. One guy would hoard the green Diner chips, while another would hoard the purple Julip chips.

Re: American Beauties - Pinups Group Buy - [group buy closed]

out of the sample set I've showed off at work, there's been a good response. Most have went through and picked out thier favorites (both the guys and gals) and some have asked me where I got them so they could get a set (can I get a finders fee for that? ).

Some of the guys that I play poker with was like me and found it interesting on how they felt compared to the chips we usually play with (my wally-world dice). Were comparing different sample sets right now to see which ones we like best. And I'll be ordering a 500 pc set hopefully mid year for us.

Re: American Beauties - Pinups Group Buy - [group buy closed]

Mine have been very well received by all the players in my old weekly game. As everyone has mentioned, each player seemed to have a personal favorite, but still appreciated every chip. As a matter of fact, I enclosed one of each design in an airtight chip holder intending to frame them, but at the request of my friends I put together a second "sample" set to hand out as card protectors when we are using other chips to play with.
