help me choose which group buy

There are so many group buys happening now that I can't decide!

Taking into comparison price vs product.
NOT taking into account ship date.

Im in the same boat as you.... At first I was sold on ASMs for the custom inlayed/edgespot chips but at a pretty hefty price and wait time. I was lurking around here and the 2+2 board for the Pharaohs buy as well and I know how nice of chips those are but was not ready to swing the bat just yet.

As some of you married guys might already know, trying to drop around 1k for "poker chips" doesnt seem to fly to well with the wife..

So now Ive been turning towards finding top quality and affordability. So taking that into acct with the current group buys I look at them this way.

ASM - If you like the colors and are not interested in an inlay or sticking on your own later then this works for you.

Samurai - Not the style I am looking for personally although the designs are nice

Matsui - A very clean simple fomat which I have yet to see with the possibility of a custom mold - and from Ten's review these chips will be top notch quality as well. Price unknown but best guess is $.45 range which is super affordable IMO.

My vote is for the Matsui's and someone else posted that you have some pharoahs coming as well which should be a nice contrast to the Matsui's which are IMO a more "reserved" design.

Wow Im long winded this morning..

Brent

Honeslty.. I feel that the more Group Buys going on the less interest each will draw. I know Ten did a great job with the Pharaohs and they are a great chip.

I look at the ASM mold GB. 12 pages of posts on it and they are at 7k or so with less than a week left and need only 20k in orders. I really like the Matsui chips but they have a 50k chip minimum and yes the strength of the buy looks good but with Ten adding another gorgeous set I feel its going to be tought to meet.

As I look through all the Buys you get the same one person going "oh no another gorgeous set.... ill take 500." Then on the next buy its another "500" or just a sample set this time. This forum has a lot of chip enthusiasts but as the number of group buys increases they cant buy everything and Im not sure if the forum is bringing enough new members daily to sustain the increase in buys.

Are the gb's other than Tens posted on other forums? Like the Pharaohs on the 2+2 board to reach a greater audience??

Just rammbling... someone slap me if I need it.

I know that as far as the Matsui buy, there will be other forums where it is posted, but that will happen once we have a price and are taking orders. At this point, the design has not be sent to Matsui, and I think it would be best for a design to be approved before we send out the word to other places.

But I agree, all these buys are taking away from each other. I think it would be a good idea to regulate how many can go on at once, but that is only in a perfect world, that could never actually work. It would be too hard for order to be decided, and time each buy has, amount of group buys that can go on at once, etc. I don't think the Matsui buy will have any problem reaching it's numbers, however. We currently have two retailers who are going to buy between 20k-50k each, so I don't think reaching the limit will be a problem.

Get the "American Beauties" chips - I haven't even seen the mock-ups and I am already saving up for some. THEY ARE HOT, HOT, HOT

Did I mention how hot they were?

They are hot. ops:

I don't mean this as harsh as it might sound, but since ChipTalk started, there are very few boards revolving around home gear (especially chips) that get much viewership.

Your not being harsh, its a simple fact... Ten has done a great job here and the content is more focused. The other boards IMHO were not really intended for "chip junkies" they just had a place for us. Furthermore I'm sure when they created those particular forums they never intended or expected that the "chip" areas would become so popular.
