new homepokertourney.com group buy section

was just browsing homepokertourney.com and noticed that they now have a section listing current group buys! i'm sure i'm not the first one to notice it, but i thought that i would post this to show members who haven't seen it or who haven't ever checked out homepokertourney.com. it's really a great reference site. it seems like all the group buys going on here at chiptalk are now being promoted there. that's great! here's a link to the group buy section.

Not at all, Barry and I didn't discuss this at all (we don't discuss much at all since March). He has a great site and provides geat resources to his viewers. This new feature was a great idea (although the retailers that hate group buys are gonna hate them even more...)

Sorry to say, but Barry has decided to remove nearly all links to ChipTalk.net (a retaliation move of some sort) so I don't know how long the "Group Buy" section on his site will last. He'll probably try to limit any references to ChipTalk on the group buy pages and link to other sites instead.

There are still a number of ChipTalk links within the site so maybe the Group Buy links were removed at request of some of his advertisers. If they are paying HPT to advertise there, that's probably a fair request.

Long story (two months long) but the thing that made him mad was I traded links in my menu with pokerCHIPreviews for about 48 hours. ChipTalk was a week old at the time, I didn't know it was such a wrong thing to do. I took it down promptly when Barry (of HPT) said "I would never had made that commitment to you if I had known that you were going to give my competitor special treatment." (He was very nice before that, and was even writing an article for our fledgling forum)

I won't go over all the private conversations (unless Barry wants me to, I have them all) but bottom line is I've been EXTREMELY, overly nice to him for months, writing many emails to him. I've either been ignored completely or been threatened or complained to by him. I gave up being nice and using flowery words and asked Barry point blank why he is so upset with me. He responded by taking down most of his links to ChipTalk.net (over 30 he said?).

His reason for removing links was that I refuse to give him one of my bottom seven banner spots in exchange for all the links that point to ChipTalk from his site. I'm not going to be bullied by ANYBODY, I don't care how many links get removed to CT. We're two months old and I say we are doing just fine.

To give him credit, he didn't take ALL links down. But he made it very clear that he will monitor the traffic between us very closely. He said that if he is sending more hits than we send him, he will remove more links to us.

/shrug
