I'm aquiring Illustrator as we speak. Maybe I can do something. Not that I know anything about it, but how hard can it be?
Harder than you think
Well- not harder than I think - as I have already waded into this...dare I say - egads....
But its moot at this point - now I have to decide if I can swing the artwork fee all by myself - and it means I MUST do all the Illustrator work that I can, otherwise - its just too pricey.
Well I'm dissapointed. What is the artist's concern? If he only wants ONE set of these chips in the world then so be it but would he consider 5000 to be exclusive enough? I will commit to 500 in air/earth/fire/water RIGHT NOW if it's that exclusive and they aren't denom'd.
Believe me, this is not particularly good news for me - in that the price of my chips just skyrocketed. I hadn't broached a group buy with him - and when I did he said no. End of story unless he changes his mind.
You could always order say 5000 of them for your own personal use. Then later if you say get bored with them or strapped for cash, sell them to your close friend(s).

Get a different artist! Or just pay their artwork fee and do a similar design. You're going to get killed on these -- separate art fee for each chip, not to mention what you're paying your artist.
Not that I would be in on it, just sad to see a group buy die.
You have my permission to use my earth wind and fire chip design!! No more than 20,000 chips though.
