Elements Set Group Buy - Withdrawn.

The artist has affirmed that his work can not be used in a group buy - so I have withdrawn this group buy. Sorry everyone, but thanks for your input.

Guess I go back to the denoms again (since I was the only one who liked them).

The price of poker (chips) has just gone up...

If this does not work out - I will likely scrap the ambigrams and start over - but I really don't want to do that..

At this point - pretty much want the full chip with artwork. Don't want to sacrifice the majority of the design to put it on clay.

understood

I figured that adding chips wouldnt be possible, but it was worth a shot. & I understand sticking with the elements theme - it just seemed like a cool idea to move from ancient greek science (fire, air, water, earth) to more modern concepts like gravity and time. If more chips could be added.

I will check with a couple poker buddies and see if they are interested in going in on a large set for our tourny's...

Either way demon or not - these chips are great!

Thanks!

OK - seems to be pretty clear that folks do NOT want denoms -so I am going to model up some that will not have them.

Btw - I just found out that I totally misread the art fees, but we may still come out fairly close to what I estimated. Since this is not simply one standard artwork, with different colors, the actual art fee would have been around $899.00 ($199 + [$175 x 4]). I will be getting an estimate as to how much it will actually be - due to the prework I am doing, and the fact that I would likely make any changes required by HPC myself before submitting the artwork (aka what they called 'the heavy lifting')

Another point -
there is a reason that HPC does not typically put symbols/words on the edge of the chips. If you have read ChipCo reviews, you will note that there is a rough spot on the edge called a 'gate'. If this hits one of the symbols, it can come out smeared.

So long as we accept that this can happen, and not request replacement chips due to that fact, I believe the edge rolls can be done as is (though this has yet to be confirmed). There is a single $30 fee for text/symbols on the roll edge.

When I get a better estimate of the actual artwork, we can get a better idea of cost per chip, as we plug that into the various breakdowns.

i suggest anyone interested read though the HPC FAQ page:

You can talk to puzzlemonkey about the art fees if you don't want to call HPC just yet (really nice guys though).

He did all his own artwork for his Tiki's, and I believe worked out an hourly rate for the art/conversion work HPC had to do.

I thought symbols on the rolling edges still had to be from a font, so you may be out of luck there. Hope I'm wrong though!

Here are a couple sets with non-denoms.

With Symbols

Without Symbols

Two Alts for Air (full Black/Gold chip - again - only for reference, as I personally don't care for them).

I prefer the ones with symbols and agree that the Air you selected is better. You might want to try outlining the other words in a slightly more contrasting color/shade as you did Air so they pop out a bit more.

I made them all black before, and it made little difference - but that was several versions ago - let me take another gander at that.

I like your row of non-denoms without symbols. The symbols on the face do seem a bit out of place. Have you tried making the shorter words larger to fill more of the available area? I'm not sure what that would do to the looks and I thoroughly trust your judgement.

I have a sample of "Apache Casino" that has smearing on the edge. It's pretty tragic with the words on it. I'll find my camera and take a pic of it later.

Asked for and granted -enlarged ambigrams, sans symbols.
note - I replaced dk purple with black on the 5th chip, for a more clear outline. Did the same for its rolledge. Also, seems I accidently left the edge rivet on the air chip gold, so now its fixed back to black.

and the rolledge:
