Chips: 9,392 | | | prize and bounty chip group buy? My wife suggested a group buy of "prize chips." Probably chipcos that say something like poker tournament winner, or runner-up, etc. I think she has been watching Celebrity Poker Showdown and likes the "golden chip" they get when they win.
If we got 20ish people to put up $30-40 each, we could get 30-40 winner's chips each (enough for a lifetime or at least several years). The chips would have to be fairly generic, but it might work.
What do you think?

Chips: 1,861 | | Those are coins, right FJohnson?
Anything originally created before Jan1, 1923 is in the public domain, so AFAIK you could use any picture of an old west outlaw you liked, a website could just copyright the conversion to jpg. crime.com has a bunch of stuff on old west outlaws. If you can't find anything I can go to a museum here in Colorado and take digital pics of some unsavory looking characters. I would rather have a photograph of an actual wanted poster (or a drawing of a fake one?) instead of text in that area.
I would suggest removing the smoke from the bullet hole, I think it'll look strange in enamel... color cost might be an issue too.
I love the idea of aces over eights for the hand but I think it should be black aces over black eights. This is from the RGP FAQ: Quote:
Legend holds that Wild Bill Hickok was shot to death during a poker game in Deadwood, South Dakota, and that the hand he held was two pair, black aces and black eights. On that most people agree. The fifth card is not known for certain. In order of credibility, the following kickers have been suggested:
Five of Diamonds
The actual card is supposedly on display in Deadwood, previously on display at the Stardust in Las Vegas.
Nine of Diamonds
Listed below in the glossary, this card was supposedly reported by first hand accounts, and is used in a recreation in Deadwood.
Queen of Clubs
On display at Ripley's Believe it or Not.
King of Spades
Appeared in the 1936 movie The Plainsman with Gary Cooper as Hickok.
| I like your work. Now, lets open up the vs. debate again....
GOLD OR SILVER?!?!? hell, maybe even copper, I dunno. I want gold for the bounty coin but am flexible.
It would be damn nice of you if you designed a tournament winner coin too, but I don't need any of them. I just want bounty coins.
So... do we want to keep this design to ourselves or should we see if one of the chip retailers wants to get in too and sell them after the group buy? I would rather have totally secure bounty chips but if someone is going to rip me off for $5-$10 over a $2 coin, let 'em... I'll just have another bounty coin. The tournament winner chips would have to be multiple run anyway and there's no real worry about someone slipping them in.
Depending on price, I'm going to want 30-50 of the bounty coins. I'd like to see something <$2, color enameled on a struck coin.

Chips: 11 | | Question on how you guys work the bounty's.
In my monthly tourney we draw a card and high card get s the bounty. This happens at or second bereak when the rebuys and addons are over. This person is the "Bounty Baby" and when knocked out the player who knocks him off gets an extra T500. From what I am reading, you guys throw in a bounty chip. When you win that pot, is that a Tourney chip bonus? Do you collect them and "cash" them in for chips? I am just looking for info so that I can evaluate our system as I form our league format.
Thanx

Isn't FJohnson alredy working on this?
Sorry but I've been busy, and haven't been following the thread. Is there talk of a 'prize' chip, AND a bounty chip/coin, or are these one and the same?

Chips: 2,224 | | | Yeah, what happened to the Prize Chip/Coin discussion. I'm much more interested in that than the bounty chip. |

J5 | FJohnson has done some nice mockups of a bounty coin (see earlier in this thread)
I think most of us favor having two separate coin/chips:
1. A trophy chip --- given to the winner to keep
2. A bounty chip --- redeemed at the end of the tourney for $
I'd kinda like to see designs for each that complement the chiptalk dealer button and card protector. That's where I think J5's help would be great. Then I'd like to see them get into the chiptalk store.
Personally, I don't much care whether they are chips or coins --- I'm in for a batch of each, no matter what the final design is.

Chips: 18,541 | | i'd like to see something that does not include AA, or any other hand. it just reeks of the ebay cheeseball cardprotector kind of thing.
an enormous raymer-esque stack of chips maybe? the trophy thing? i think they can be simplish and classy, but they should look different than typical poker stuff...
i dunno, johnny. i've got no skills with this kinda thing.
or maybe it could just be a happy happy chip. an oversized ?
that's a joke, btw. |
