prize and bounty chip group buy?

My wife suggested a group buy of "prize chips." Probably chipcos that say something like poker tournament winner, or runner-up, etc. I think she has been watching Celebrity Poker Showdown and likes the "golden chip" they get when they win.

If we got 20ish people to put up $30-40 each, we could get 30-40 winner's chips each (enough for a lifetime or at least several years). The chips would have to be fairly generic, but it might work.

What do you think?

If you were to merely replace all instances of "chiptalk" with "bounty" you'd have it named in 3 places. Also, instead of a small image of a group of gangsters, I'd select one notorious person and use his mugshot instead-- even on a great sized coin I reckon you're not going to be able to distinguish what the image is at current.

Why Not both on the same chip??

Why not Have the "Bounty: Wanted Dead or Alive" on one side with the wild west scene on one side......and "Tournament Champion" with the Bullet Hole Aces on the Reverse side?? This would work great in my home game because we only have a tournament Once a Month and we could actually pay the player who knocks out last month's champion something or maybe give away some kind of prize. What do you think??

No way. They have to be separate coins/chips. At least for me.

That is totally awesome.

I would buy those just the way they are. The only suggestions I could come up with are:
1) Maybe change the picture to a single outlaw. The "gang" is OK, but I'm worried that it won't show up well on the chip/coin.
2) Move the name to be below the picture.
3) Change the name. I like the "chiptalk bounty" on the perimeter, so we need a different name for the outlaw. "Rounder"? "Aces"? "River McDraw" ??

Side 2: Same, or different?

Have we decided if this is a coin, or a chip? (I favor a chip for this, and a coin for the trophy, but can still go either way.)
I suppose we have to decide that first, then submit some artwork to a vendor?

Then.... on to the trophy chip/coin.

I was checking out one of the custom coin maker sites & they stated that you can make them in any shape. Something in the shape of the spade suit would be pretty unique. Couple that with the wanted poster with bullet holes and that would look pertty sharp. It could also double as a pretty decent card cover. That's my opinion, but I'm definitely in on the bounty chips.
yes it has to stand out if you intend to have a bounty chip thrown in the pot! oversized chip, octagon, or what ever you can come up with. i very much like the ideas being thrown out there, keep up the good work.

I want in on the bounty, here's my preference in how to differentiate them:

Coins, 39mm - I love 'em. I would pay $2.50 ea for enamled coins
Octagon - cool stuff there, lots of room for art. Don't know how much they are
Bright f'ing pink/orange/lime green - would fit in chip cases, easy to spot.
Oversize - meh

The aces w/bullet holes are pretty cool, I like the idea of a wanted poster also. The head on a spike would be my favorite idea.

I wouldn't want any website (even chiptalk) on it, I just want it to say bounty or reward or something.

Couple of minor revisions and a question, Does anyone have a good picture or can anyone sketch one out, to put on the wante side? I can not find one that I particularly like to put in there.

aces over eights is a great idea. a nit, though: my understanding is that he had a queen kicker.

another thing, and this is a question for fjohnson, b/c he's clearly the man here. are you considering designing a tourny winner coin as well? as someone that's not into the bounty thing...i'm an inquiring mind that'd like to know.

I was wondering about the kicker, I 'll have to change that, I looked and couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks!

I was considering trying my hand at coming up with a Champion chip, I will have to see what I can come up with and let you guys know. It may be a week or two, I am going to be pretty busy the next couple of weeks.
