Chips: 9,300 | | | prize and bounty chip group buy? My wife suggested a group buy of "prize chips." Probably chipcos that say something like poker tournament winner, or runner-up, etc. I think she has been watching Celebrity Poker Showdown and likes the "golden chip" they get when they win.
If we got 20ish people to put up $30-40 each, we could get 30-40 winner's chips each (enough for a lifetime or at least several years). The chips would have to be fairly generic, but it might work.
What do you think?

(SpaceMonkey -- I'd rather leave the coin posts here, since several people, including the OP, have expressed interest in them. You can start a separate thread focussed specifically on coins if you want, though.) | Okay, that's fine with me.
What I was planning on ordering within the next week or two were some 1.75" (43mm) custom coins. Two sided design with color and epoxy. My initial idea was the Greek helmet (from my $1 chip) on one side, and something similar to the AA coin side pictured above for the opposite side. Not sure what the text for either side should say. I'd like the year (2005) somewhere on there too. www.customemblems.com seems to have a good deal, since they don't charge set up fees (80-100 per side at many places). The minimum order is 300, with breaks at 500 and 1000 coins, as I listed in my previous post.
I think if we could get real, solid coins for ~2.00-2.50/ea., that is infinately better than chipco chips at 90¢/ea. At least for prize coins. Bounty chips should be chips, IMO. |

I also lvoe the ones at PokerCoin.com but they do seem pricey. Maybe a group buy there. |

Comments?
BTW this is a thrown together first approximation, and I am not a graphic artist, so fire away.

PS the bullet holes are stolen from the web. I will have to draw some myself or find some without copyright protection, but it should be fairly easy to do. |

This one is even more thrown together than the first. I invision the bounty chip as a chipco chip and this as a coin like in SpaceMonkey's post.
Help please

Maybe a pantone type coloring around the rim or instead of the background would give it that old west feel. Can you put on an octagonal shape and see how that looks?

Chips: 29,466 | | Thanks jld --- good start on some mockups.
For the bounty chip, I'm thinking that a drawing of a desperado might be more appropriate than cards. Check this link for some examples: http://www.tombstone1880.com/wildbill/wanted.htm
I like those bullet holes, though. You coud still use those on a wanted poster, if you want.
I like Aces on the trophy chip.
I'd probably vote for bounty=chip and trophy=coin, but could go either way on either one.

Chips: 7,798 | | | Yeah, I like aces for the trophy coin, and a wanted poster style without aces for a bounty chip (but with bullet holes).
I'd like a different image on the opposite side of the aces on the coin. Again, I'd like a greek helmet, as that matches my chips and goes along the strong military theme these coins are based on. But I also realize most people in a group buy, if we get up to 300+ coins, may not want that image, so I'm open to suggestions. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
