ASM (pc.com) Group Buy **CLOSED***

35,471 (118.24% of total needed) chips ordered and paid for as of 6/15/05.
12,496 plain
22,975 spotted

*The ASM group buy is now CLOSED. I will be placing the total order on 6/16.

BACKGROUND
ASM (Atlantic Standard Molding) have been making casino chips for over 70 years, including many of the old time casino chips in 1940s Las Vegas. Currently they sell quality clay chips online through http://www.pokerchips.com and allows buyers to pick their own color combinations. This group buy has secured a substantial discount (through volume purchase) of their custom color, non-inlay chips with the Horse Head Mold. We are limited to 15 different color combinations for the chips with edge spots and 4 plain (non edge-spot) chips. Over a 2 week period, members of this forum have discussed and voted on colors for each of the 19 different chip offered. These are the chips offered:

Plains

Grey, Imperial Blue, Pink, Orange (left to right)

Spotted

White/Blue, Blue/White, Mandarin Red/Arc Yellow, Mandarin Red/DayGlo Yellow, Mandarin Red/Imperial Blue, Green/DayGlo Peach, Green/DayGlo Yellow, Green/Yellow, Black/DayGlo Green, Black/DayGlo Pink, Black/DayGlo Peach, Lavender/DayGlo Pink, Purple/Arc Yellow, Purple/Grey, Yellow/Black (left to right from first row to second row)

The traditional casino chip body colors are White/Blue for $1, Red for $5, Green for $25, Black for $100, Purple for $500, and Yellow for $1000. If you need help in choosing colors, feel free to ask for help by posting on this thread. We would be glad to help.

REASONS FOR GROUP BUY
1) Pokerchips.com offers the same HH mold spotted chips for $0.50/chip and DO NOT OFFER the plain HH mold chips to the public. The group buy pricing averages a 15% discount over those prices. These prices are distributor prices, it is absolutely the rock-bottom price ASM offers.
2) The biggest advantage is delivery time. Pokerchips.com takes over a period of 3 months to fill an order, whether it has an inlay or not. We have been guaranteed a 4-6 week production time.

PRICING
Spotted chips - $0.43/chip
Plain chips - $0.33/chip

** Please note these prices reflect shipping-to-me expenses and in accepting credit card payments through PayPal. This is purely a non-profit group buy.
** The above prices are firm and apply to everyone, REGARDLESS of your payment method.
*** In case you are wondering if PC.com will provide extra chips along with the order, the answer from them is "yes, but not many." I will pass along all extra chips proportionally to the buyers.

SHIPPING
Shipping rate for the US is calculated via the following method:
$11 for the first 100 chips, $0.70 for each additional 25 chips.
Example: For a 500 chip order, shipping will be: $11 + (400/25)*$0.70 = $22.20

For Canadian orders, please add a flat $3 to the above rates. Please note that I will not mark this as a gift on customs forms and will state the actual value. Any other international orders please email me with your order for a shipping quote (guo.shou@gmail.com).

* The chips will be shipped carefully packaged and padded with insurance.

PAYMENT DETAILS
You have the following options. Please note the different deadlines.

1) PayPal (Deadline: Midnight EST 6/12/05)
Pay through PayPal (http://www.paypal.com), one of the safest ways to pay and receive money online via a credit card or direct bank transfer (if you have questions on setting up an account, email me at guo.shou@gmail.com and I will be glad to help). Payments should be made to guo.shou@gmail.com. Note that I will ship to the address on your PayPal account unless you tell me otherwise.

2) Money Order/Cashier's Check (Deadline: Postmarked and in the mail by 6/3/05)
MOs and Cashier's Checks are ok, but please note the different deadline. I must receive it in the mail by 6/10/05. I will email you my address if you choose to pay via this method.

3) Personal Checks (Deadline: Postmarked and in the mail by 5/31/05)
Personal checks need time to clear, and I only offer that as an option if you send it out immediately (please note deadline). I will email you my address if you choose to pay via this method.

SAMPLE CHIP ORDERS
SAMPLE chip orders are accepted, but there is a 25 chip minimum. You may mix & match whichever colors you like (e.g. 5 pink, 15 yellow/chocolate, 3 grey, 2 white/blue). Shipping will be $5 per 50 chips ordered (if you order 10 chips, shipping is $5. If you order 55 chips, shipping is $10).

ORDERING DETAILS
Please copy and paste the following order form into your email and send me the details of your order. Please fill out the ( ) with the number of chips desired and line items 1. 2. 3. and 4. If you are paying via PayPal, you may simply PayPal me at guo.shou@gmail.com with the grand total that you calculate. I count about 15,550 chips interest from the messages on this thread if everyone orders the higher amount in their range. If someone said they're game but did not put an amount, I assumed 500.

Not bad! Keep 'em coming guys! If I have enough interest with some room for cancellations by Sunday I'll open up the order next week.

I think I will have to pass. I don't care for the lack of recessed inlay and I have no idea on what shipping to Canada will be.

I'm possibly interested.

How about Neteller?
I don't know about anyone else, but the Pharos took me days to order because dollars had to move from poker-money-Neteller to my bank to Paypal for the purchase. I'd like to have the option of just sending the Neteller money directly.

OK< really confused now.
I just read another post which show that the HH ASM molds without labels do not have a recessed center, but the pics above in this string show a recession.......totally confused.

I'm pretty sure that's your (and my) brain searching for a favorable perspective.

The pictures are of such a bad quality and odd angle that it would be easy to argue either point depending on the reflection of the inner ridge.

Regretfully, since nobody wants to talk this over in here and the reasons elsewhere are convincing, I have to withdraw my pledge.

I'm pretty sure we cannot manually label blank horsehead chips that would be purchased through this group buy without it affecting the outer dimensions of the product.

Oh well, time to save up a bit more, I guess. NexGens don't seem to do it for me and the idea of custom color art on each chip seems pretty neat. Best of luck to those who participate!

A little more seriously, though, and this still feels like a silly question: is it possible to get one design that does NOT have edgespots? Like if I want to get a standard breakdown (white/red/green etc) and have solid orange high value chips, would that work?
Solid color clay are regularly .35 each. Cheaper if you buy them separately. If I go in on this (500+) I'd probably want 100 or so non-spotted for the lowest denom.

If you refer to PC.com you'll see that you cannot get solid color chips in the horsehead mold. This is also explained ^ there a few posts...

Yup,
I'm afraid I have to regretfully pull my potential order as well.
I can't risk the issue of having to put on aftermarket labels if there isn't a recessed area for them.

On a side note, not sure if this has been discussed....would we do a non-denom logo on the ASM group buy?

Hmm, I just placed an order last week for 1000 HH's with edge spots but I paid the full .50 a chip. So it is tempting to cancel that and jump on board but then I have to wait much longer since there is no telling when this GB will actually leave the ground.

My intentions are fully to get this moving as quickly as possible, as there are no arguments on color combos, inlays, etc. Once I have interest for 20,000 chips I will open up the buy. If by this Sunday we have that much interest I will start the buy early next week.
