The details:
This group buy is for all denominations of ASM's great "Key West Casino" clay chips and dealer buttons, all created by J5 Design. This group buy will feature four new denominations -- a nickel; a $2.50 chip; a $20 chip, and a $25,000 chip, all pictured above. (The finished chips will have the classic Key West inlay with denominations, of course.) We had a group buy for the original denominations in February - March, 2011, and members who missed it are anxious for another group buy. The dealer buttons are high-qaulity 2-inch ceramic buttons made earlier this year.
Organizer: dennis63 will organize the group buy, collect payment and pay ASM. He will pay all shipping from ASM to him. Buyers will pay shipping from him. No fees have been added for the use of the inlay or creating new denominations.
Duration: This group buy is active now, taking orders through September 28 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The "payment due date" is Sept. 30 by 5 p.m. EDT.
The order will be placed with ASM when all payments are received, with a "target order date" of Oct. 1, 2011. An estimated shipping date from ASM will be provided to all buyers, and the chips will be re-shipped from dennis63 to each buyer.
This schedule is flexible, and is offered to help you plan.
Prices: All denominations are starting at $1.20 per chip. (See the disclosure on price, below.) I'm confident this will go down a bit before we close. (Very high order numbers may earn a "price break.")
Sample sets: To order samples, PM dennis63 with your order and shipping information. There are two types of samples:
- A mini sample set of 3 chips (quarter, $1 and $5 chips) will be $5 delivered in the U.S. Other countries add $2.
Sample sets of the nine existing denominations will be $20 delivered, can be returned for a refund (minus shipping costs), and come with a $5 shipping credit if you buy at least 300 chips in the group buy.
Dealer buttons will be $5.
Payment will be by paypal, check or money order. (Paypal payers, please add 3 percent to cover their fee.)
Shipping will be by USPS flat rate boxes wth delivery confirmation. Shipping rates will be standard for USPS:
100 chips: $5.20
Up to 400 chips: $10.95
Up to 700 chips: $14.95
1,000 chips: $20.00
Insurance (optional, but recommended) USPS insurance rates:
Up to $50 = $1.75
$50.01 to $100 = $2.25
$100.01 to $200 = $2.75
$200.01 to $300 = $4.70
$300.01 to $400 = $5.70
$400.01 to $500 = $6.70
$500.01 to $600 = $7.70
Over $600 = $7.70 plus $1 per $100 of declared value over $600.
International shipping: Members outside the United States should conact dennis63 for a shipping quote and include their city and postal code so a calculation can be made. There is usually no single rate for most countries, so questions like, "How much is shipping to Country X?" can't be answered.
Price disclosure:
ASM's current price: $1.40 per chip (300 and 999 chips)
ASM's price over 1,000 chips: $1.35
ASM's chiptalk discount (- 10 % / $0.135) = $1.21 1/2 per chip
Inlay fee: None
Artwork fee: None
Organizer dennis63 will round the price down to $1.20 per chip, and agrees to pick up the extra cost if the order is large enough to proceed but too small to earn any additional price consideration based on volume. If the order size triggers a "price break," it will be passed on to the buyers as a lower per-chip price.
Minimums:
1. Total order: A total order of at least 1,000 chips will be enough to proceed with the group buy.
2. For each new denomination, I've set a goal of 300 to proceed with that chip. If there is little or no interest in a particular chip, it won't get made this time around.
FAQs:
Q: Is $1.20 per chip the "final" price?
A: Maybe. If we get lots of orders, it could change.
Q: Do I have to commit to buy today?
A: No, but don't wait too long. If you're interested, post below. You can say, "I will probably be in for (number) x (denomination).
Q: What if I'm sure I want to buy?
A: You can post, "I'm definitely in for (number of chips) x (denomination).
Q: When can I order?
A: Now.
Q: When should I pay for my chips?
A: I recommend waiting until the final week of this group buy, when we know the total number of chips, in case it will change the price a bit. If you're definitely buying, you can move money to paypal so it will be there before the payment due date.
Q: Can I get sample chips?
A: Yes. Samples of the 9 existing denominations are ready to ship to you for $11, plus shipping. (Shipping in the U.S. is $2.)
Q: Are these "real casino" chips?
A: Yes. They're 9-gram clay chips made by ASM in the United States using the same process and materials they use to make their chips for casinos and card rooms. They have a true "inlay" that is molded into the chip, not a "stuck-on" label. ASM made real casino table chips for the first Las Vegas casinos, and has a longstanding reputation for quality and precision that is well-known here on Chiptalk.
Q: How long will these chips last?
A: These are real casino chips, made to last for an average of five years of round-the-clock play (and abuse) on casino tables. In your home game, they're certain to last a lifetime and probably longer. Many owners of these chips can expect to be able to pass them down to their children.
Q: Will this chip be "discontinued?"
A: No. CT member dennis63 bought the ownership rights to the chip art in July, 2011, to prevent this chip from being discontinued, and ASM agreed to make more Key Wests for us here. They'll be available to members who want more chips in the future.
Q: Can I change or cancel my order if I change my mind?
A: Yes. You can make changes to your order until September 28 at 8 p.m. EDT. Plan carefully, and try to avoid lots of confusing changes to your order. Please plan for your payment to clear by the close of business on September 30.
Q: How do I stay informed about this group buy?
A: Check in often by looking at the "first post" box, just below this post, which will be used for news and information.
