2009ASMFDLGCRHSCTGB: Officially CANCELLED. See Post #1326.

See post 1326 for cancellation: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/group-...tml#post881548

Oh yeah, it's officially on like Jim at ASM provided me the go-ahead today to begin this GB, stating that the FDL mold will likely be operational in a week or so. All that was lost is now found.

COST: Solid blanks = 36¢ each. Solid GRAND CARDROOM Hotstamps = 48¢ each, possibly cheaper. See cost discussion below. Actual shipping and fees will be extra and calculated later. Money will be collected later. We love chiptalkers globally, so international orders are welcome. *We WILL not mark as "gift" or list anything but the actual value. That's not how we roll. Your country is broke just like ours and they need the money. If you ask, we will say no, still fill your order, but ship your chips loose in a plastic bag inside a box with no other packaging, so there.

SOLIDS ONLY: This GB will be for solid blanks and GRAND CARDROOM hotstamps only. No inserts or inlays, please. Contact ASM directly for that.

ORDERS: This GB will be open for orders through Thursday, July 2nd at least. Date to be finalized later. Post your breakdown in your reply and I'll add it to this spreadsheet. ASM FDL GCR GB - Online Spreadsheets - EditGrid

COLORS: All standard ASM colors will be available, plus Light Blue, Retro Red, Retro Lavender, Retro Blue, and WEIGHTED DG PEACH (1000 chip minimum for a brass-weighted batch of DG Peach.) UPDATE: plus RETRO GREEN and LIGHT CHOCOLATE.
Minimum order will be 200 chips. If you want less than that, find a buddy and add-on or group up!

Here's an image of all GRAND CARDROOM stamps available, mocked on the FDL mold by your favorite and mine, Johnny5.

Cost Discussion: Jim has offered us standard bulk pricing -10% as a sign of his undying love for Chiptalk members. This equates to 36c for solid blanks and 45c each for stamps. Mike, Mark, and I are still out about $810 for die cost (artwork, die production, mounting, etc.) so we'll spread that cost out throughout the stamped chip orders at a maximum of 9c per chip. If we get orders totaling 6,100 or more chips, the price begins to drop. The actual adder will be [$810/# of chips], with a max of 9c. Let me know if you need help with the maffs. To be clear, we WILL NOT make a profit on this GB, mods contact me if you would like further clarification.

So, your GCR stamped chips will be 45c+9c (max) for a total of 54c each. Obviously, you should order thousands and thousands of chips to save yourselves some moniez.

Click below for FAQ!
Spoiler:

Q: Are you serious?
A: yes.

Q: Who is running this thing?
A: Me, Miandsh2000, and MarkC79. I'll take care of the online piece and order tracking. Miandsh2000 will collect monies, place the order, and handle shipping. MarkC79 will be the grand puba at this point. We'll draw on his RoyalPokerSupply expertise to handle tens of thousands of chips!

Q: Can we confirm hotstampability on this mold?
A: Jim says it will stamp fine. It has one of the largest recess diameters of any standard mold (1 1/16 maybe) and one of the deepest recesses. This takes the overall weight down a touch but makes it great for stamps. Obviously the GB organizers can't be responsible for any guarantee on aftermarket stamps. The worst case scenario is that you get stuck with FDL blanks for 36c each. Worse things have happened to humans.

Q: Who does custom hotstamps?
A: Check with joshuadalton or jsmithjr732. Chiproom has not had good luck stamping ASMs due to cracking issues and will not be able to stamp these chips. He may be able to help with custom dies.

Q: Hey Josh, looks cool. I've already got a hotstamp project in the works though. Tell me about this weighted Day Glo Peach. Is it just heavier, or is there a color change too ?
A: Weighted DG Peach will be a bit darker than regular DG Peach, but I'm going with it because I want the heavier weight. I have no way of knowing how much a "bit" is. I'll try to get more info from Jim. The DG Peach is pretty bright in person, so I think it'll be fine. We shall see.

Q: Haven't seen this asked yet but, would reorders be allowed? If so (I'd guess it's a very big if) would we be able to reorder on our own, as a member of the group buy?
Or would we have to go through the GB organizers?
A: Sure, but not at these prices. You could order solid blanks from ASM at any time and you could add on to a GCR set as well, but again, not at these prices.

Q: Where do I send my money and rights to my first born to?
A: Miandsh2000, but not yet. I'm not sure if he's in the market for babies. Work that out with him.

Q:This better not be part of some sick joke, if it is then I'm falling for it. Firstly I'll ask, will you be able to ship these to Australia? Yes! well that's great.
A: No joke, fo snizzle. Mike WILL ship internationally. See updated OP for details. You're in.

Q:I'm thinking there will be a mix of stamped and blanks in my order, that's going to be OK isn't it?
A: Hellz yeah.

Q: Sweet news. Any idea if PCOL could simply stamp these?
A: PCOL WILL be stamping the GCR chips. Jim has declined to stamp these with stock dies... reason is lower in this text.

Q: OH! also, will it be possible to ship to Canada? how many chips can be put into a flat rate USPS box? thanks to everyone who is making this possible!
A: Yes. prolly 600-800 is a standard, maybe up to 1200 in large. More shipping info later. Your cost will be actual cost.

Q: What is the deadline to place an order?
A: June 21 at the earliest.

Q: So ASM will be stamping the Grand Cardroom stamps? If so, is it possible for individual orders to get custom stamping from ASM?
A: Yes. No.

Q:
- Is there a minimum order quantity per chiptalker?
- Is there international shipping? (there would certainly appear to be a demand)
- Is ASM doing the stamping?
- And if so, can individual orders use ASM's stock hotstamps instead (ie also cash game ones), and what would be the corresponding price?
many thanks
A: Prolly yes, maybe 300? Not sure yet, gotta talk to Mike. If you want less you can add on to someone else who likes you and have them ship to you.
Yes.
Yes.
No.

Q: Are there actual pictures of the blanks yet? Damn I sounded naggy!!
A: No, the mold is not in service for at least another week.

Q: Don't know if this has already been asked-- is the stamp area big enough to accomodate BCC's TR King stamps?
A: This chips has a 1-1/16" recessed diameter. If any chip can accept those stamps, this one can. Who will stamp them for you?

Q: Retro Red, Retro Lavender, Retro Blue are all these non-weighted?
would weighted retro lavender be a possibility for 1000pc order?
or would the color even look right with the brass flakes?
A: All retro colors are NON-WEIGHTED. They have no brass flakes.
Possibly, if it has that kind of support.
Who knows.

Qon't know whether this has been asked and answered (didn't read all 99 posts), but why does the PCO web site state that this is one of the molds that cannot be hot stamped?
A: JimB confirmed today that these chips should stamp fine. He does not like the idea of using stock dies because the artwork diameter is small compared to the recessed area and he thinks it would look funny. Prolly why he didn't usually stamp this one.

Q: What's up with the DG colors?
A: JimB is offering us weighted versions of any DG color, including Arc Yellow, as long as we reach 1000 of that particular color.

Q: Will the brass flake change the color?
A: Yes, but VERY little. Not enough to send you in another direction.

Q: Are the retro colors weighted?
A: No.

Q: Can we weight the retro colors for this GB?
A: No.

Q: Why the hell not?
A: 'Cuz Jim said no. That pretty much did it for me.

Q: Uh, can I see 'em?
A: Yeah, sure:

Q: Light Blue?
A: weighted, always.

Q: Light Chocolate?
A: Weighted, always.

Q: Hey, why did the chips go back up a penny?
A: mounting the die faces cost me $336, not $80 as originally quoted.

Q: How do I get the stamps to show up in the chip factory?
A:
1) Copy this: GCRFULLSET200961902020
2) Go to the chip factory
3) Click on Inlay, Load
4) Paste that number into the "Local or Server Save Name" box
5) Click Save, Get Others Inlay

Re: ASM Fleur De Lis (FDL) Solid Blanks and GRAND CARDROOM Hotstamps

...and now for a journey on how I arrived at 2600 chips.

1) I decided I "needed" about 600 for a STT set. And so it begins.
2) I "wanted" at least 300 T100s because they look so damn cool.
3) I also wanted at least a rack of T5 and T5000 because I want all of the stamps in my set.
4) Therefore I'm up to at least 100xT5, 200xT25, 300xT100, 200xT500, 200xT1000, and 100xT5000, 1100 already.
5) 1100 is a silly number, so I'll add 100 more T100 to round out two 600-count cases, 1200 total. Ah, I feel better.
6) Then I decided weighted DG Peach was the right T1000 color for me but it could be a touch darker than the non-weighted version and I've neve seen one in hand. Oh gawd, what if I don't like it? Better throw in 200 non-weighted DG Peach T1000s. There we go, protected.
7) What will I do with the extra T1000s? Sell them, that'll work.
8 ) Who wants T1000s without the other denoms? No one, that's who.
9) I better buy another full 1200 piece set to make sure I can resell the T1000s I choose not to use. Up to 2400 chips.
10) Hey Light Blue is cool, I guess I can add 200 blanks for 70 bucks. Maybe I'll stamp them later as T5000 or something.

And there you have it. 2,600 total. Obvious, really.

Re: ASM Fleur De Lis (FDL) Solid Blanks and GRAND CARDROOM Hotstamps

I know this has probably been answered somewhere else, but, I'm lazy tonight...

I would like to get something else hotstamped (if I get some) on the chips. Who does these, and is there an average charge for this service?

Also can we confirm hotstampability on this mold? I want to (finally) use my die and want to know SOK can or somebody can stamp these.

20c per chip and $50 per custom die IF I remember correctly. Check in some of those thechiproom threads. I saw it in there I think.

The Chiproom in the marketplace is the only option currently that I know of.

Generally speaking, a die costs $100. Stamping varies from 15c-25c a chip. Chiproom does a great job stamping chips.
