Chips: 1,700 | | | BCC Group Inlay buy V2 (final) After much work, thanks to the good offices of machinelf, this is the tournament set of inlays I proffer for group buy consideration. striking a balance between economy and exclusivity I'm looking for up to ten but no more participants. The five denom deal plus very minor art work costs (plus two sample sets to machine elf per participant) works out to $35 each.
First come first serve.
In the event that this design is not to the taste of at least ten folks here I will be going solo and personalizing it so I'm not pressed one way or the other.
Now to the matter at hand. In celebration of fruits of Hordeum vulgare and Humulus lupulus with gentle nudging from the hands of man of the efforts of Saccharomyces cerevisiae & Saccharomyces uvarum I present The Beer Inlay. A fulsome crop of two row barley surrounds a single beatific hop cone. The background colors are from St. Michael Jackson's "New World Guide to Beer" (first edition 1977). The fonts harken to the Deco period of the early 1930s, when prohibition's shadow was still cast over the land. In celebration of the 75th anniverssary of Repeal and for your gaming pleasure
By meridianfc at 2008-05-22 For those who were interested in the initial offering, you may inquire of Mr. Elf as to his requirements for usage. | | Sponsored Links | |

Chips: 2,653 | | | Re: BCC Group Inlay buy V2 (final) Is there going to be a cash set offered? These wouldn't have been the chips I would have picked for a tournament set. I like the green 3U chip and the other black chip. The pink chip belongs in a cash set but a lavender 500 might not be any better. I like a white 1000 and the brown 5000. If you offer a cash set I'd be interested. |

Chips: 1,700 | | | Re: BCC Group Inlay buy V2 (final) You can pick any chips you like, this is just to split the fees for the inlay art. I'd imagine most folks would pick base chips from the Tmolds on offer but you could do whatever you want at BCC with these. |

Thats why I asked if anyone would be offering a cash set with these inlays. I'd really like not to have to spend 300-350$ for art fees on top of the cost but I love these T-molds. They're nice and heavy. |

Chips: 2,653 | | | Re: BCC Group Inlay buy V2 (final) Wait, wait I took another look and I think I answered my own question. You're using the 25 without either a $ or c sign so it could be used for either a cash set or tourney set and the progression is 25, 100, 500, 1000, 5000. That would work for me I'd just need different colors. So sign me up. I'll split the art fees. |

Chips: 1,700 | | | Re: BCC Group Inlay buy V2 (final) Just to be clear this is for just the inlay, the base chips can be whatever you want, they don't even have to be Tmolds, though the Tmolds are very, very nice.
And yes the denom are just as you see them. If this is succesful we can do a second buy for the odd denoms out (1/5/20/25000/blank/etc) |

Consider this buy closed. |

Consider this buy closed. | Good luck, I look forward to seeing what you end up with.
I think it's just a concept that is tough to grasp. Sure, a "beer" chip would get some attention, but when I look at that inlay Beer is the last thing that comes to my mind. I know you wanted Hops, Barley, etc. in the inlay, which is fine. I think to most people it looks like a firefly or bug of some sort, at least until I look real close. Then, when I looked real close I still don't think I could have put the connection that it was supposed to be related to beer. Maybe that's just me though.
Still, I look forward to seeing your personalized chips. I think this is a design that works better personalized. Good luck. |

I can recognize a hop quickly but I still agree.
Plus, this is the kind of design that would require me to explain its meaning to every person who attends my games and even after describing it I would think people would just shrug and say "oh". Kind of like naming your kid with a common name but uncommon spelling...no real value there in the long term. "Hi, my name is actually spelled Tym and not Tim...my parents were reaching hard when naming me and I've since had to explain this on a daily basis to strangers".
The firefly reference is very true. I would think providing ingredients as well as a cask of some sort would better define the mission statement but...what the heck do I know...I'm just railbirding a design. |

Chips: 1,700 | | | Re: BCC Group Inlay buy V2 (final) Thanks for the input. I thought the images were fairly iconic, for those in the know that is, but didn't think they'd appear all that mysterious. I know for some the hop leaf is maybe an imagine with stronger recognition (it's in serveral classic beer labels). Still I might run this by some of my fellow beer nerds to get an outside opinion. I don't mind if someone not enamored of life's greatest beverage doesn't get what it is, actually that's part of the charm, but I think any dedicated reader of Michael Jackson should be able to spot it first time.
I don't quite get the firefly thing, but I'll trust you on that one. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
