Gauging interest: New PNY dealer button

The PNY dealer buttons that were made back in the day are pretty hard (not to mention expensive) to get a hold of these days. Here's the original GB thread http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/group-...-underway.html

I thought about finding out if we could redo those buttons, but I guess it wouldn't be fair to people who have paid a lot to get one. So how about a brand new design? Johnny5 is designing a DB based on a photo. Looks like we'll do three buttons instead of just one!

These will be Palm Import's ceramic buttons (with rolling edges). Current mock-ups:

We will do a bounty chip too! PI's 43mm chips should work well because of their large printable area. Mock-up:

Re: Gauging interest: New PNY dealer button

Yep put me down for 3.

As for design perhaps a big statue of liberty head on one of the round Matsui plaques...mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Those round Matsui plaques are really quite nice, if we get them done in time then perhaps they can boost the existing Matsui GB and provide the numbers needed to order?

Matsui is an option, but they might not print the casino's name. Iirc that was an issue with the PNY plaques. Matsui would also have a minimum order of 100 pieces. I do agree they're nice though, I'm waiting to get those Blue Sands buttons.

As for the art, I'd prefer to use a sight that's not already present in the set, but we'll see what looks best.

I see your point about the name, cant remember what ended up on the Plaques?

How about just New Yorker at the top, NYC at the bottom and of course Dealer in the middle?

As for images how about the Unisphere since it's the perfect shape?

There is also the Flairtron building:

Brooklyn Bridge:

To be honest though with the way PNY's are selling then I really dont think we would have a problem getting the 100 minimum. The chips are great and a Matsui button really would finish any set nicely.

I like the idea of the brooklyn bridge as the focal point for the button. I know with PI you have to order 40 to get rolling edges and they are reasonably inexpensive for a great product. The Matsui jetons would be killer but you are looking at somewhere around $10 to $15 per- with that the 100 piece minium. If you go the route of PI I would take 5 to 6.

I liked the PI dealer buttons I have seen. The Black Sands Buttons are really impressive. Seems like PI would be easier to communicate with than Matsui aswell.

As far as the image is concerned it's not so much the issue for me. If any of these images were chosen I think they would look awesome, especially if J5 did the design. His Blue Sands mock-up is stunning.

The deal breaker for me is the quality. I really don't mind paying double for Matsui since it simply would be the best quality DB for arguably one of the best chip sets. Not that I'm saying the PI don't produce quality products . They would also be very complimentary to anyone with the Matsui PNY inspired plaques.

Perhaps if we made the 100 minimum, and managed to get these into the existing Matsui GB then the price may be lower than $10.

Guess we need to start asking some of the designers if they can help.

Re: Gauging interest: New PNY dealer button

I've gotten some buttons from PI before and everything has worked very well. At the moment I am leaning towards PI for production, but if we get tons of interest in the next few days, we could consider Matsui. (Psst, these babies could sell for a lot of money on feebay... )

My original thought for the button was the Brooklyn bridge, but it seems to be on the 500 chips, so I'm not sure.

Keep those ideas coming!
