Gauging interest: New PNY dealer button

The PNY dealer buttons that were made back in the day are pretty hard (not to mention expensive) to get a hold of these days. Here's the original GB thread http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/group-...-underway.html

I thought about finding out if we could redo those buttons, but I guess it wouldn't be fair to people who have paid a lot to get one. So how about a brand new design? Johnny5 is designing a DB based on a photo. Looks like we'll do three buttons instead of just one!

These will be Palm Import's ceramic buttons (with rolling edges). Current mock-ups:

We will do a bounty chip too! PI's 43mm chips should work well because of their large printable area. Mock-up:

Re: Gauging interest: New PNY dealer button

Chiptalk member max made this mock-up. The picture is too similar to the original DB so we won't use it, but he said he will try to find another picture to work with. His font isn't exactly the one on PNYs, so if we want a better font with his design, the GB would possibly need to pay for it.

The deal breaker for me is the quality. I really don't mind paying double for Matsui since it simply would be the best quality DB for arguably one of the best chip sets. Not that I'm saying the PI don't produce quality products . They would also be very complimentary to anyone with the Matsui PNY inspired plaques.

Perhaps if we made the 100 minimum, and managed to get these into the existing Matsui GB then the price may be lower than $10.

Guess we need to start asking some of the designers if they can help.
Going with Matsui you are looking at a minium of $10 per @ 100 pieces... I agree that the Matsui product is stellar- however comparing Matsui ~vs~ PI isnt fair IMO 2 completly different companys. I have a good relationship with Fins and I can see if he could mock something up for us...

If you are needing someone to run the GB I will offer my assistance.

What about Times Square???

That's what I was hoping for. Thanks Dan!

As for the image, with the BCC chips and all, I don't think we need to be too concerned about using a sight that's already on one of the chips. I like most of the suggestions here already. It's more important that the artist can find a good image (one that rawks and will print well) to use. Perhaps we can get a few mock-ups done and then have a vote.

No problem...

With the image- We will need to find something with a public domain to avoid copyright infringment. I will give Fins a jingle to see what he might be able to whip up for us...

Re: Gauging interest: New PNY dealer button

I like the way this is coming together. The first mockup is stunning!
All pictures submitted so far are also excellent. This is going to come out nice. Hopefully as smooth and fast as the "zombie chips GB" is working.

***Anyone interested in PNY "Bounty" Chips? This might be the right time to get that going if the interest is there. It gives us another chance to utilize another great design. Maybe they could be the size of small dealer buttons? just a thought. Oh yaeh...I will need (15) of those also!
