Re: ASM Groupbuy Intrest - "The Vascoly's" -

Regarding a GB: Just so you know, with ASM there really isn't a huge price break with quantity of chips, so there's not a huge incentive for you to do a group buy, so don't be surprised if you don't see people bite.

With other companies like BCC and Matsui, they charge art fees up front, so the more chips, the lower the art fee per chip is, so it makes a big difference if the order is 500 or 5000. With ASM, it's only a .10 difference from a small order of less than 1000, to a 1000-2500 chip order.

Also, if there is interest, someone else might want to run it. It would make the shipping issue easier, and people don't normally run GB's who have only been a chiptalk member for a couple of months, and only have a few posts.

BTW, I like your design!

You're right, it probably would be more cost effective for European members.

Nice design but I don't really suggest having the white ring. In a perfect world and your chips turn out like the mock-ups then they would look beautiful. In reality, there is a good chance the white ring will not come out completely aligned with the inlay. If this becomes the case, then it really distracts the eye. You should do a couple of test on your rendering and offset the white ring slightly to one side and see if you are pleased with it.

The white ring works in the real world. Check here:

http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/custom...-splashed.html

and here:

http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/custom...bonus-pie.html

They have to print and punch many extras to get the ones that are relatively well centered. Leave it to the great ASM customer service to go the extra mile to do that. I don't see any glaring issues with the ring centering in well over 1000 chips.

I think I created a bit of a monster when I had these made. I've seen lots of mock-ups with the ring... not so many pics of finished chips though.

It's good to see it worked out for you. This was just something that occured in the past so it was worth bringing up. If the ASM crew is willing to go the extra mile to make sure that each inlay has perfectly aligned rings, then it's just more credit to their excellent service.
