The Next Matsui Group Buy Discussion Thread - MOCKUPS WITH THE NEW MOLD!!!......

1.8.2008 - UPDATE:

The mockups listed below will likely be the final design, with one exception, fading on the lion head. (See polls below)''

They are 43mm chips and plaques of various sizes by Matsui Gaming Machine. Pricing is listed below.

THESES ARE THE CURRENT CONCEPTS FOR THE 20 AND 100 PLAQUES FOR THE CASH SET.
THEY WILL NOT HAVE "JOSHUA DALTON" ON THEM, SO DON'T GET YOUR UNDIES IN A BUNCH.

ARE THERE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR FINALIZING THE DESIGN?

PRICING DETAILS -

$1.20/chip + $300 art fee(per denom) - 43mm 3 color chips
Plaque pricing will be determined when we have sizes finalized.

What this means to you -
At 1000 chips per denom ordered , your per chip price is $1.50 & and at 2000 chips ordered it would $1.35/chip.
At 100 jetons ordered, your per jeton price is $10.00

Maybe it's too much, but if it worked it would be pretty bad ass, and we wouldn't have to have any fonts/text on the inlay.

I could probably make it happen with enough work.

I like this idea

This custom ChipTalk link is built to show you only the real deal: Casino quality poker chips; Not the plastic chips that some sellers call "clay."

Although, I have never handled matsuis and apparently these 43mms are glorious things. How many molds are there?

Basically just two molds. One of them allows for a two or three color chip though.

So if there's only REALLY 2 molds for the 43mms (I realize 2 of them are only slightly different in that one is a 2 colour and the other is a 3 colour), it kinda makes it difficult to do an all 43mm cash set. It kills a lot of the originality between denoms. Why not just make the $20 chip that epic 3 colour 43mm so that it's extra special from the rest of the set.

My 2 cents

I REALLY don't like mixing sizes of chips. I use a $20/$25 in my cash game, and I would not like it to be 43mm if the rest are 40mm.

A cool progression of all 43mm was stated earlier, and there were no repeats.

the fractional was done with the 3 color chip, by making the main spots the same color as the body, and then coloring the middle spot.
the $1 chip could be the same mold, but with the outer spots colored and the inner spot the base color.
the $5 chip is the other 43mm mold
the $20 chip is a 43mm gold coin

I'm confused... Aren't there three different 43mm molds:

CC.330-A (2-colored only)
CC.340-A
CC.340-C

340-C is an inner ring chip which is currently reserved for casino use.

Your idea for the fractional actually solves the problem of repetition I didnt like... SICK

but why not do what you stated but make the $20 chip the 3 colour mold a 3rd time but this time with 3 colours. what's up with this gold coin chip? I'm a little oblivious, show me the light. it makes me think of a coin centered chip, which is not cool in my books.

Looks like we should probably do all 43mm now that we can

The Matsui Gold Coins are soooo far from being a CIC chip it's not even funny! They are solid (brass I think), and are really nice.

Re: The Next Matsui Group Buy Discussion Thread......

As good as the chip mock up looks with the combined theme I still think that something new needs to be done.

If you were to isolate the shapes that are present in the "Northern Lights" then you end up with the basic shapes used on the Blue Sands inlay.

The Eclipse set is already being worked on so thats kind of raining on their parade by using that idea.

The mixed chip idea is not so hot either since it makes chip handling awkward, thats something I did not like about the Zen's.

The idea is to make something new each time and not just a reincarnation of a previous design isn't i?

Sorry but I'm new here and just trying to become more active within the forums.

Previously I mentioned that something from the 1920's to 1930's would be good and there are so many potential influences.

Another idea I had was an Art Deco city scape. Now the inspiration for this came from a new game called Bio Shock.

Its the Art Deco City in this image which I think would look great on an Inlay:

Ignore the hand on this next one but there are a few shapes in this next image that could be tweaked to look great on and inlay:

I'm not looking for a chip to represent the game because thats just stupid, I just think it raises potential influences from an interesting period that could be used to make something unique.

Hope nobody takes my comments the wrong way

I'll work on some Northern Lights ideas tonight. (#5 anyone?)
I like this one the best so far.

I'd probably be interested in a small cash set (ND/1/5/20). As for having a larger $20, I'm fine with that as there generally won't be many of those in play in my games. For folks that play larger stakes with more $20 or $25 chips in play, I can see that being an issue.
