New PI Clay Mold & Design GB **Guaging Interest**

Ok, Joe has 86ed the BCC solid GB due to mold issues. Joe has opened it up for us to come up with something else. Big Kyle has suggested that we use the WSOP edgespot combo and have no inlay and have them made in China. We need to come up with a mold idea. There have been some ideas thrown out there but nothing real serious. Palm tree mold was one. This thread is here only to gauge interest and to see if we can come up with a mold idea. I have no info on pricing and when these will be made or even if they will be made. The final decision is Joe's.

Is there anyone out there with design talent that can whip up something for us non graphic artists here...

Here is the thread with some of the ideas.

Re: New PI Clay Mold & Design GB **Guaging Interest**

A starting stack from Todd Draper

More chip shots

Color combos per reports
25- Day green with forest green and yellow
100- Black with day blue and dark blue
500- Desert flower with maroon and pink
1000- Canary yellow with plum and sherbert
5000- Blaze orange with dark brown and tan
25000- Peach with metallic gold
100,000- Hawaii flower with charcoal and metallic silver (yet unseen)
250,000- Almond with bronze and butterscotch

I would love to see these done. True clay chips with the same edgespots and color combos as the biggest tournament in the world. Blanks would mean you could print anything you wanted on them. Ceramics are great but a clay chip just cannot be replicated on a ceramic.

Anyone who can/wants to do mockups please share them here. Also, I think all of these colors are on GPI's website in their .pdf catalog.

Re: New PI Clay Mold & Design GB **Guaging Interest**

great idea. i was kinda hoping that Joe from PI would start making a new clay mold soon. the 4D1/4 is played out.

my suggestion would be to take a look at the mold contest that was run for the new Faux Clay line. i think Fins ended up winning that. i would like to see a modified version of his design on this chip. remember, the WSOP chips are using a RHC mold, there are no coincentric circles on the mold. same mold as the PNYs. We should make it as close as possible diamater-wise to the RHC mold. i wouldnt like it if the chips only had an inlay size of 1". im hoping for a recess area of 1.125"

These would be so cool. Would there be a difference in quality if labels were printed later in the US rather than in China?

Re: New PI Clay Mold & Design GB **Guaging Interest**

I totally agree duma. The inlay size needs to be 1 and 1/16", or 1 and 1/8". whichever is the same size as these. Also I think these should have a nice deep recess for labelling and should be sold as blanks.

As for the label quality of Chinas, I do not know. The Desert Palms Pure Clay (a Chinese line from Jim at theChipRoom) had textured inlays. As far as I know, Joe's PI labels are a smooth vinyl type inlay that is bonded securely to the chip. All I know is that those DPPC chips had pretty decent inlays, and that Joe stands by his as being extremely high-quality.

Obviously they will not be molded into the chip a la Paulson or BCC, but I think Joe's labels would be fine. I suppose you could even go to one of the label printers like HogWild and have your labels made through him, if these end up as blanks.

Quick question: Which chips do I need to get samples of that are going to be the most comparable to these?

Josh

I think the current PI clays are going to be the closest. Joe had said something about making the current chips beter. I have a sample set coming. So if need be I can send it your way once I have a day or two to mess with these. If you are interested LMK...
