ASM Rounders "Spoof" - Donkey KGB Order Thread *CLOSED*
Donkey KGB's "Rounders Spoof" chips
Just in time for the 10th anniversary of "Rounders"!
The price per chip depends on spot pattern:
$1.00 for "414" (4-spotted, low-denomination) chips: 1¢, 5¢, 25¢, and 100¢
$1.25 for "614" (6-spotted, high- or non-denominated) chips: 500¢, 2000¢, 10,000¢, and "KGB"
Actual shipping will be added to each order.
E.g., an 8-chip sample set (1 of each) will be $9 + shipping.
Oh, and they'll probably come pre-oiled (a ChipTalk-exclusive bonus) unless there's significant objection.
Here are the current mockups, as rendered by ChipForge:
Artwork has been submitted to Sandy for proofs. Here is the official ASM artwork proof:

What I'd like to know is if the horsehead chips feel "smoother" and more like Paulsons.
The H chips that I have are beautiful but they have a grippy, almost sandpaper quality to them. Sort of feels like one of those metal nail files, but not quite as rough. I'm guessing this is probably due to the large unadorned outer area. All there is along most of the outer edge is the cross-hatching.
I much prefer a more of a smoother "linen" or papery texture. I'm hoping the horseheads are like this, due to less plain surface, from the rings and horseheads.
Does that make sense?
Any comments?
And thanks everyone for the helpful info on group buys...

Re: ASM Rounders "Spoof" - Donkey KGB Order Thread
Sorry for the late replies... have had a busy day.
Thanks Vince and rogwadd for answering "group buy" related questions on my behalf. I'll say again, I don't intend to do a "re-order" anytime soon, so unfortunately there won't be samples available for you to check out before making up your minds. Trust me, I would've liked to see samples first too - I asked if I could see a few "prototypes" but was told that's generally not an option; too expensive and time-consuming.
Having said that, if you'd been looking at TRKing Rounders replicas, these will be much closer to the originals in several ways, despite the "donkey" theme... and for cheaper than you'll find TRKings these days!
I don't even own any HH-mold ASM chips (samples). I do have H-mold and FDL-mold samples. I know what you mean about the "nail-file" feel of new H-molds. The FDLs are also textured, but not nearly as rough. But as far as hardness, sound, weight, colours... these will be the same.
Here's a close-up of some "made for casino" HH-mold chips that JimB was selling off recently:

(stolen from here: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/pokerc...tra-chips.html
The texture looks to be a fine crosshatch not unlike that on the Roman mold (see post #32).
Of course, I'm prepared to get these regardless of the subtleties of the mold because (a) it looks cool, (b) it's a classic that's been used on casino chips for quite some time, and (c) it goes with the donkey theme. You gotta love the concentric cirlces... and they're ASM chips - a top-of-the-line company known for their attention to detail and quality control. I will be very surprised if anyone is disappointed.
But for everyone's benefit, I'd appreciate it if someone who has HH-mold samples plus other ASM chips from various molds could comment on how this one compares in feel. Thanks.
*EDIT* The horsehead mold appears to have a similar texture to the H-mold, as seen in close-up images here:

*EDIT* And here are even more close-ups of horsehead mold chips:

Re: ASM Rounders "Spoof" - Donkey KGB Order Thread
Spreadsheet has been updated as of this post.
Please note:
All orders must be placed and finalized by 11:59pm PST on July 21 (that's 07:59 GMT on July 22).
We're at just over 4000 total chips so far, and it's getting down to crunch time! If you've changed your mind in any way (up or down), please let me know ASAP (either by PM or in a new post in this thread).
Payment details:
I will accept (and perhaps prefer) "Interac Email Transfer" as payment. I'll also consider PokerStars and PartyPoker transfers.
As for Paypal, I only have a "personal" account so I can only accept "Instant Transfer" (i.e. DEBIT account) transactions; I will not accept Credit Card payments via PayPal (huge transaction fees). And if you are paying by PayPal, I'll have to charge an additional 3% (not included in the prices in the OP) to cover the transaction fee on my end (which you'd save by using one of the other methods of payment listed above). I'm afraid that might make me unpopular because I failed (i.e. forgot) to mention it earlier, but I'm not trying to rip anybody off. I'm trying to get everybody these chips for cost - i.e. the actual group-buy price per chip, without personally losing any money... which is the trick! Anybody that's been involved with a group buy or buys/sells stuff the internet knows what I'm talking about. And I'm still bound to lose money, if for no other reason, due to Paypal's ridiculous exchange rates (typically 3%-5% different from the bank rate).
Anyway, I will send everyone a PM tomorrow (Wednesday) with your total, requesting your name and shipping address, and your choice of payment method. Please reply to it after making any last-minute changes, and I'll give you additional payment information (i.e. my email address or P*/PP ID). I'll start accepting payments once you receive your PM. Again, you have until midnight (or slightly later, depending where you are) on Saturday to finalize your order. Oh, and anyone else ("new participants") who wants to get in on this still can until then. I'll send PMs to new participants as their orders come in.
*EDIT* Oh, and anybody doing local pick-up in Toronto can just hand me Canadian cash on pick-up... it'll be in your PM.

OK...
Everybody listed in the OP should've received a PM confirming your order and requesting payment via options listed above.
For everybody else, it's not too late to order some Donkey KGB chips... but it will be too late on Sunday, so reply here or PM me ASAP!

Re: ASM Rounders "Spoof" - Donkey KGB Order Thread
Can't believe I almost missed this -- my boyfriend LOVES donkeys. But since we are about to buy our FIRST HOUSE, money and time are short, and I have not been spending all my time on CT lately.
Please put me down for two sample sets -- I will send you a PM as well.

Re: ASM Rounders "Spoof" - Donkey KGB Order Thread
The order has been placed!
Please don't ask me when they'll arrive... I haven't the foggiest. Recent ASM custom chips have been arriving within 6 weeks of the order date, but this group buy order is for > 4200 chips... so it might take a little longer. In any case, I'll keep you informed of any progress I'm made aware of.
As for payments, I'd first like to thank everybody who has got their money to me already! As of right now, 51% of chips from ChipTalk members have been paid for.
As for the rest, I've been in frequent contact with some of you (e.g. it turns out PokerStars is far smoother for account transfers than PartyPoker, which has a $50 transfer minimum and requires character-perfect spelling of names including middle initials - who knew?). Anyway, if I've been communicating with you, then your total in the OP is white. For those whose total is still yellow, please PM me. I'd appreciate it if you could get payments to me by the end of this week (for those using P* or PayPal), as I'll be out of town on holidays the following week.

The OP only includes those who posted their orders here. It doesn't include mine or anyone who ordered 1000+, and/or anyone who wanted to remain anonymous for whatever reason.
