Kokopelli redux group buy - now taking orders through Jan. 26

We've established that there is interest in a follow-up to last year's Kokopelli ceramic chip group buy.

Shanghai Sparky planted the seed. NoelSarchs will be running the group buy. Gene at ABC will be manufacturing the chips this time around. Lynbark Designs will once again be handling the artwork.

I'm really excited for two reasons - I am crazy about the original Kokos and Lynbark Designs has come up with some new options for low-denomination chips for those of us interested in cash sets this time around.

This thread is for discussion about which new kokopelli design should go on which new chip denom. Here's the thread with the initial discussion: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/group-...highlight=koko.

Here's the mock-up that I received from Brent with some options. Keep in mind that some of the Kokos might require being reversed in order to work with different denoms. We can also switch denom colors if we want.

Have at it. Let's discuss which Koko we'd like to see on which denom and on which color.

Happy chipping,
jamby

Re: Kokopelli redux group buy - discussion on low denom chip designs

Here's a shot of the original Kokopelli set including dealer button and tile for frame of reference as to how the new chips will work with the existing.

I'm not sure who I need to credit with this shot since it was saved to my hard drive back in May of this year adn I don't recall where I found it originally. It's not mine though.

Re: Kokopelli redux group buy - discussion on low denom chip designs

I'm liking them a lot. IMO the colors are fine in the order shown Here are my choices...

.05 - Pink Figure #7 - I like this fun looking figure and since I'll probably get a larger qty of .05's I choose this one for the .05.

.10 - Blue Figure #2 - It's a noticeably different figure than the rest and depicts Koko as meant (Hunchback Flute Player)

.25 - Brown Figure #1 - Again a noticeable difference of the figure. I like it.

1.00 - Sand Figure #4 - I like this figure very much. It better represents the feathered head dress for what is commonly (and mistakenly) thought of as Koko's hair. The detail really comes out on this color chip as well.

Very nice Brent. I look forward to adding these to my originals.

I think the original pink is too futuristic/modern looking. I like the pink #2 better. The rest of the originals look great, and I wouldn't change a thing on them.

Re: Kokopelli redux group buy - discussion on low denom chip designs

I too like the pink #7 (original). I like it a lot. The koko is smaller than the others and thus seems appropriate on the smallest denom. I think the pink works for the nickle chip too.

I like the blue #4 chip. The foot gear is unique on the Koko and I think it works well on the blue chip. He's also a shorter koko than others and that makes sense to me for the two lowest denom chips.

I like the brown #2 chip and agree with RanMan about this Koko design being a winner because of the traditional hunch-back design, but I prefer it on the brown rather than the blue.

I like the sand #6 chip (original). The head dress is very unique as is the shape of his instrument and his clothing with the stitching at the base.

This would give us 5 right-facing Kokos and 4 left-facing Kokos.

Do we need/want a NCV chip too? Perhaps a left-facing one?

If so, my vote would be for the high-stepping #1/5 chip that's on the original blue, but reversed so that he's facing left. Perhaps on a taupe colored chip with a very colorful and contrasting border.

I like the same ones, but in a different order:
$1: #7
.25: #4
.10: #2
.05: #1

I like the #7 on the $1 for the same reason as Ranman, it's the one I'm most likely to buy and use more.

I'd be happy with any combination, but it was fun chiming in.

#7,4 and 2 also seem to be very popular with all of us with #1 and 6 also getting votes.

What do you all think of an NCV chip since we're adding to the set anyway?

Re: Kokopelli redux group buy - discussion on low denom chip designs

I don't really have a need for an NCV but it doesn't mean I wouldn't get some.

Just typing out loud but the question I have is if we have denoms down to .05 it seems to me the NCV would be used as a large denom so why not just make it with that way?

I know, it could be used as a $10's, $50's or other in between denom.

Since my set would go to $1000 I would get a few and use them as 5K's.

I'm for it, just my .02

That's the beauty of a NCV chip - you can use it for anything you like and mix it up if you feel like too.

Ideas on color?
