Dec. 11
After many emails and telephone calls with Jim Blanchard of Atlantic Standard, I'm proud to announce a preliminary set of details.
The chips will be on the yet-to-be-released
"Fleur de Lis" mold shown here:
For this group buy only, there will be a number of previously unavailable edgespot combinations, including:
238, 358, 438, 312S, 3V & 1/2Pie!
Some new color choices
may be opened up as well. I can't say much more right now, but Jim is looking into some new "formulations".
The inlay, as shown here, some of you may remember from the Protege contest. It has been updated to work as a single sided inlay.
As these chips are on the FDL mold, the inlays are the slightly larger 1 1/16". If you've seen the samples that Jim sent out, they look fantastic in this larger format.
Once Jim and I have decided on near final colors and edge configurations, I will update this post with images. Trust me when I say that you will not be dissapointed! The chips have a very old-school charm to them.
We're currently looking at starting production some time in the new year. At this point, no costs have been nailed down, but I'll update this post as more details surface. One thing I am very sure of, is that there will be a limited number of chips made. Feel free to PM, or ask questions in this thread and I'll do my best to answer them!
Dec. 12 Update:
NCV Value Added:

Most likely on the 1/2 Pie mold to satisfy both low limits and high value tournaments.
Dec. 14 Update:
Jim and I are pleased to show our preliminary mockups for the set. Keep in mind that the first three chips, which incorporate the 238, 358, & 438 have been mocked up using 214, 312, & 414. They will be visually different than shown.
These are
PRELIMINARY color choices and there may be some changes, based on Jim's final say. Edge spots are almost 100% confirmed, but could change. For example, the 1000 Chip could become 614A instead of 614.
Here's a breakdown:
1 = White with Chocolate
5 = Mandarin Red with Imperial Blue
25 = DayGlo with Dark Green
100 = Black with DayGlo Peach
500 = Purple with Yellow & Mandarin Red
1000 = Arc Yellow DayGlo with Orange
5000 = DayGlo Pink & Grey
NCV = Yellow & Chocolate
Enjoy!
Dec. 16 Update:
I've added a poll to the Group Buy Polls thread to gauge purchasing interest.
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/group-...rest-poll.html Dec. 18 Update:
New revised mockups. We fiddled with a few of the chips to balance out the set. Probably not the final revision but getting closer.
Here's a breakdown:
1 = White with Chocolate (Unchanged)
5 = Mandarin Red with Imperial Blue (Unchanged)
25 = DayGlo with Dark Green (now 312S)
100 = Black with Imperial Blue & DayGlo Pink (now 3U)
500 = Purple with Yellow & Mandarin Red (now 4D14)
1000 = Yellow DayGlo with Orange (omitted Arc Yellow)
5000 = DayGlo Pink & Grey (Unchanged)
NCV = Yellow & Chocolate (Unchanged)
Enjoy!
Feb. 19 Update:
Jim is pretty backlogged on orders, but he assures me that I should have samples in hand very soon. I thought I should update the thread, as there has been little activity in the last two months. I'll post scans as soon as possible!
Mar. 26 Update:
Here are the latest mockups that were posted on page 11:

Latest inlays (cleaned up the spacing, and adjusted the Pegasus slightly - more majestic now:

Jim is setting up the molds this week for a trail run of samples.
Apr. 25 Update:
Jim has emailed me scans of the samples. All I can say is WOW! I'd show them to you, but there are a few changes that need to be made. Some of the spot/color combos aren't working in real life like they did virtually... Trust me when I say that you'll be very impressed.
Here's a teaser:
May 14th Update:
So based on recent conversations, here's the latest mockups. I'm still really sad about the loss of 312S. That was going to be the pride of the set for me. Oh well, life goes on!
May 16th Update:
Jim has brought to my attention that the spots on some of the chips had to change. The progression is much better than I originally had come up with. I'm also much happier with them than I was before. I think most of you will agree. Unfortunately, due to the labor intensive nature of some of the spot patterns (3V specifically) in order to get these made reasonably quickly, we've had to eliminate the 438 & 358 spot patterns. The chips below represent the edge spots that will be featured in the set. This was Jim's decision and I 100% respect his choices. I think they look fantastic and we should have a sample scan posted soon.
May 18th Update:
Jim has opened sales through pokerchips.com. Call Cathy or Glenda to order yours today. All the details can be found in this thread:
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/pokerc...avalon-gb.html
At a $1.30 per for sets over 300, this is a great deal! Rest assured I'm ordering a lot! A big thanks to Jim for making this set a reality, I hope that it does very well for him. Any questions regarding orders should be made in his thread, or to the girls on the phones. Questions about the chips themselves I'll still handle. Thanks for all the compliments, suggestions and help along the way from everyone who replied to this thread!
JUST SO EVERYONE IS AWARE, I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SAMPLE SET GB THAT IS GOING ON IN A SEPARATE THREAD, PLEASE DIRECT YOUR QUESTIONS TO whataboutj.
