Those talking about trimming need to remember that with a betting line, once you trim you are gonna have a funky looking setup. |
I agree with all of these recent posts. I also agree that more than one logo is unnecessary (but I try to entertain any and all suggestions). So it seems the "KISS" style of
post #88 is most popular at this point.
As PhilTheThrill14 pointed out, if people want a trimmable model, the betting line would have to be scrapped. I think an 8' x 4' (96" x 48") rectangle would suit any size/shape of table. The bottom side could have stencil marks for cutting to other standard tables (72"x36" rectangle or oval; 60"x36" rectangle or oval; 48"x48" octagon or round; etc.). One single chiptalk.net logo a few inches from an edge would suffice, but there's always the risk that someone cuts it down to 72" x 36" (or similar) such that there is no logo on the top side, defeating the (advertising) purpose of having a logo at all.
Before anyone asks, no, it can't be double-sided... The bottom is "grippy" neoprene rubber while the top has a cloth-like texture (like a typical mouse pad). If it was cloth-like on both sides, it would tend to slip on the table (unfortunately). If it could be double-sided, then a major problem would be solved: put a betting line on one side and not on the other of a large rectangle... if people want to trim it down to an arbitrary size, then they can have the "no line" side up; otherwise, they can trim it to the "standard" 72" x 36" and use the betting line.
I have a 60" x 36" (5' x 3') oval table at home and plan to cut one of my "Vegas" toppers to fit it. It'll make the player position markings on each end look dumb, but I don't like/use them anyway. I might colour the rest in with a marker. At my department tournaments we use 72" x 36" rectangular tables. Like Rosencrantz1 said, there's no problem with a little exposed table at the corners. People put their chips on the topper and all is well. Heck, it's beneficial: it leaves room from beverage holders!
Oh, and here's a grey one, just for kicks:
For this style, is the logo too large? I could shrink it down so it's as small as for the "player position markings", but I kind of like it this size. If this is a 72" x 36" topper, the logo is about 10.5" x 4.75" as shown above. Also, how much room should there be from the edge to the betting line? I think I'm only leaving about 6"... should it be 8"? 10"?
