Desert Sands T5000 chips ARRIVED WITH PICS

I am in no position to organize it, but I would be willing to participate. I did a search and could not find a discussion regarding this so I figured that I would ask to see if it has been discussed or done before.

I have a 1000 chip DS tourney set (325 green, 325 Black, 200 purple, and 150 yellow) and I really want 50 T5000 chips to go with it. I know that NJ does custom chips with the DS colors, edge and face spots, and since the DS is their artwork anyhow so they should be able to use it on customs. I was wondering if anyone has ever considered a group buy of NJ customs of only a T5000 denomination done in say orange or grey (they are used for small denoms and not in most tourney sets, so the duplicate color should not be a big deal to those interested for their tourney sets).

The minimum order is 500, so we would probably only need about 10 participants.

Is this a good idea or has it been discussed or done before?

Thanks.

Sunder,

I called them about this. You can use the DS artwork and change the denom to 5000.

Is there still any interest in doing this?

Re: Desert Sands T5000 chips

I'd still be interested. I really only need 50 myself, but the miniumum order is only 500 so we shouldn't need that many.

I did get a PM on here about someone that has yet to decide between the sands and another chip. If he goes with the Sands for his set, he would want 100 orange $5000 and 100 Gray $10000.

Has anyone dealt with NJ Customs before? Is it 500pcs total or five hundred of each color/denoml?

Re: Desert Sands T5000 chips

For custom chips, I believe the requirement is a min. of 100 per each denom/style.

If you approached NJ with the idea, I could see them managing it from there side sort of like a limited edition chip. Talk with them and then spread the word around here, HPT, 2+2, SK, etc. I wouldn't think it would be hard to get a couple thousand ordered at that point.

Re: Desert Sands T5000 chips

this isnt meant to be a threadjack, but i just bought some DS and I love em. I was thinking that maybe if we (DS owners) could get a group buy for some ceramic plaques $5k (like @ holdempokerchips) that would be the $hit.

Keep in mind plaques cost ~ $5 each (at group buy rates)... It would probably be easier to find 10 (or 20) people willing to buy 50 (or 25) chips each (at ~ $0.50 each) than pay a premium for plaques.

I think you are right, for the most part. The only thing is you can already get a 5k chip already using means described above. Granted a group buy should be able to get a lower price. But I thought maybe others would be interested in plaques because they're not available (I assume) by any other means at this time. And if $5 was the asking price, that would be totally sweet IMO.
