Re: Faux Clays for Service Men & Women

Thanks beekeeper for organizing this -- and I hope you enjoyed your vacation!

I am totally in for donating some money to this effort -- our troops need chips!! And faux clays do seem the way to go as they are cheap and decent. As for cards, I believe that Joe is out of the "sale" Copags, but perhaps he can make some sort of arrangement because it is for the troops.

Since I am not a member of the FCN, I can't advise on colors except to say that I would assume we would want to be sending a flexible set that they could use for cash and tournaments. But since the fauxs are non-denoms, this shouldn't be a problem.

(Oh no -- just realized that this means that the FCN will soon be getting its own MILITARY! I believe this means that they soon really will conquer the world!)

Re: Faux Clays for Service Men & Women

This is an awesome idea Beekeeper. I'm in for a donation for the chips, and I also have a two deck setup of Copags that are unused that I will donate to the cause for free. Please PM me when the time comes and I"ll send them to you along with my donation.

Re: Faux Clays for Service Men & Women

I just posted a link to this thread in the FCN membership thread -- threads in "general poker chips" usually get a lot more views. Let's see if all those faux clay fanatics will step up to the challenge!

EDIT: I also bumped the original help the troops thread in general topics. But I promise to stop now.

Re: Faux Clays for Service Men & Women

bolgenmod,

thanks for your help.

what I'll do is watch the thread for a while and take down info about vendors and people who have cards, etc. I'll go ahead and contact Joe at PalmImports regarding cards, but I'm open to any suggestions. I know tenpercent has a sticky for discounts in the marketplace forum.

When things have gotten rolling, I'll update the original post to let everyone know where things are leaning. I have no preconceptions on how to do this, so I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks again to all. Bee

Re: Faux Clays for Service Men & Women

Does owning a set of FC's make me an FCN member? I don't know the rules. (my FCN handbook hasn't arrived yet)

Anyway, I'll definitely chip in if this gets going.

The colors I recommend are green/black/purple/orange. This way, for tourneys they can be $25/$100/$500/$1000, or for cash 25c/$1/$5/$10, and both would still be somewhat consistant with standard colors.

For a 500 chip set, I would probably do something like 150 green, 150 black, 100 purple, 100 orange. Or, maybe 150/200/100/50.

I hope this get's going, I think it's a great idea.

Re: Faux Clays for Service Men & Women

Beekeeper - The Copags you sent me went into use immediately. Everyone said it reminded them of their respective home games. The base I am stationed at has Marines, Army, and Air Force. We all play poker together. I would be more than willing to be your distributor on this end. Let me know if you need the address again. Using Copags is awesome, I don't care if they are well used. But still playing with bicycle chips. That is like driving a Corvette the speed limit!!!! Thanks again for all of the support. Don't listen to the news. We know the truth.
