REHASH: Interest in a Prize Coin GB possibility??

I'm really interested in trying to create a COIN prize (as in previous posts) for a tournament champion for the regular league games we have...

I was curious if anyone who was contemplating doing coins (spacemonkey?) for theirselves has gone thru with it?

I dont want this to necessarily be a HUGE GB type thing, maybe something on a smaller scale but i would like to see if anyone has resources or suggestions on where to get custom coins (i checked a few links from past posts)....

hey capt lego, where did you get yours done?

anyways, just trying to gauge interest and see if anyone has travelled the path i plan on taking...

free,
d

Re: REHASH: Interest in a Prize Coin GB possibility??

i'm interested. captlego's was not in this pricerange. it's more like in the $50 ballpark, i'd guess.

i'd be in for 25, i'd guess.

Re: REHASH: Interest in a Prize Coin GB possibility??

I still haven't gone through with anything yet myself. I just haven't had the time, really. I'm definitely still interested, just haven't put any energy into this yet. And to be honest, I didn't like how the last thread ended up. I didn't really care for the design, nor would I want a coin with only one side printed.

Re: REHASH: Interest in a Prize Coin GB possibility??

i agree, space.

two sided is important, and the bounty chip is...um...not my style.

just b/c it didn't turn out how we'd have wanted it done doesn't mean we couldn't get this done, though.

Re: REHASH: Interest in a Prize Coin GB possibility??

well, i purchased some of the bounty chips (30 to be exact).....

i have yet to see them, but just realized they are the same as the wsop logo...(go figure, maybe i'm just slow)....

as for this "PRIZE COIN" i've been thinking also...
the 2 side being printed is damn near essential (possibly one side 3-D and the back side 2-D)...
I think also it would be cool if the coin was gold (i know its a lil more pricey, but it also stands out a lot more when you show it OFF...LOL)....

maybe space, jojo and daniel can get our wits (i dont have much btw) together and just run a 3 man group buy (kinda like the weave in basketball....).....

i know there are some die fees and such, but i think it would be fresh to give away some sort of prize after games (well more structured tourny games, than just home game tourny...ya heard?)....

i see that on average its about $100.- / side for DIE fees....
which starts the price smack dab at $200.- just for the 1 time set up fee....

after that its price /coin and depending on what the mfgr allows as a minimum....

what would we be trying to look at as a final price / coin that would be feasible for the both of you?

bear in mind also that the die fee is one time, so every additional order (assuming there are more) will not burden us with die fees (but will burden those who didnt initially pay for the die fee

anyhoot, let's hash out some details and see what we can do?
sound good?

Re: REHASH: Interest in a Prize Coin GB possibility??

I think we can make this work. It'll take me a week or so to dig through all my old research for where to order from. I think I narrowed it down to two different places, one if it was a huge group buy (no die charges), and one that allows small orders (most had large minimum orders).

For my own idea, I was thinking about having the trojan helmet (from my $1 chip) on one side of the coin. But I don't see that as going over even with just three of us, plus I'm flexible and not sold on that idea anyways.

3D/2D could work well depending on the graphic. I was thinking they should be made with expoy too.

As it's a coin, it would be nice to have the year on there somewhere, but I also wouldn't want to be charged die fees every year to get new ones minted.

Re: REHASH: Interest in a Prize Coin GB possibility??

i'd be happy to keep this small, and can be flexible on design.

Re: REHASH: Interest in a Prize Coin GB possibility??

let's keep it small then!!

hey space, what exactly does the epoxy do?
is that just to protect against wear and tear?

I dont mind the year on there, but would we use 2005 or 2006?
most likely 2006 right? for the upcoming year since this one is damn near to a close?

i'm pretty flexible with ideas also...
i'm not totally against the trojan hat, but if it were poker related somehow that would of course be fresh...

since it is a "prize" coin, it doesnt have to accomodate pocket aces or any cards for that matter ...
its just more of a token of reward for kicking everyone elses arse that nite....LOL

maybe the back side could say something like
"bearer of this coin is to be referred to as the best poker player of the tournament" or some ish like dat...

just throwing out suggestions....
