Huh?!?!?! Bounty chips

Did I miss a thread somewhere?

When did the new bounty chip become a retail offering?

It's good news to me, let's see if we can persuade HPC to put them as a store item...

Re: Huh?!?!?! Bounty hijacking alert!

As far as I can tell, he hasn't even ordered any from the group buy, and yet he plans to have them available in less than two weeks. Doesn't that suggest that he is having his own made? Is that legal? I don't know how these things work, it just seems a bit strange to me.

Re: Huh?!?!?! Bounty hijacking alert!

Like I said, this is all new to me. I was just surprised to see it show up so quickly before we even had ours in hand. If it's typical, then I'll just chill and await the first batch.

Re: Huh?!?!?! Bounty hijacking alert!

Well however came up with the design would have had to allowed Nevada Jack to make their own sets and sell them to retailers wouldn't they? Or when you send in a custom chip to Jacks do you lose any rights to it?

I was already bummed that a chip that was originally only going to have 500 in the world turned into 1800. And now they are commercially available. Thought I was getting in on a limited edition chip. Guess not.

Yeah, while it's flattering that it's popular enough to be sold, it's kind of a bummer too.

Re: Huh?!?!?! Bounty hijacking!

Normally, you get customs made so no one else can get them. I would be pretty pissed off if Nevada Jacks sold my Rouvalis chips to someone else. There goes teh security.

This one is a little different circumstance. I guess the group buy wasn't necessary if these are readily available. Kind of weird. I am curious as to the thought process behind it though.

Re: Huh?!?!?! Bounty hijacking!

mspatton asked me if it was ok to sell the bounty chip on his site and after consulting with the designer, Lynbark Designs, we both thought it would be a great idea to have it available for those who missed out on the group buy. Win-win if you ask me. mspatton helps the group get our chips faster by nudging Jim at NJs to put us high on his busy priority list and the bounty chip that others missed or want more of (ie. quads, smoore) can now get them from a respected retailer.

Although I would have liked to retire this chip to increase it's collectability, does anyone seriously think that will happen? There's already a couple of threads to create another bounty chip. It's a great design and many of us liked it as evident from the furious gb pace so let's keep it available for others to buy!
