Are you a poker chip hoarder?
Hit 'Hoarders' returns for third season - Entertainment - Reality TV - TODAYshow.com
Excerpt:
"Hoarders" was a hit from the start at A&E, and last winter's second season saw an audience 10 percent higher than the first, the Nielsen Co. said. It averaged 2.3 million viewers an episode and, in the truest mark of success for a nonfiction cable show, produced imitators such as TLC's "Hoarding: Buried Alive" and "Confessions: Animal Hoarding," on Animal Planet.
...
Like popular cable series about pawnbrokers, cupcake bakers, Alaskan fishermen and ice road truckers, "Hoarders" offers viewers an intimate look into a world they probably wouldn't know. Unlike those shows, it's a sad, sometimes horrifying world. If you find something funny, it's hard not to feel guilty about it.
=============================
I started watching these three shows about hoarding...and they're quite fascinating, even a bit gross.
But it made me wonder...am I a poker chip hoarder?

In a loose sense of the term, I suppose we could call our affliction for acquiring chips "hoarding".
But real pathological hoarding involves an inability to throw away items that are worthless, hazardous, etc., to a point where it causes health risks and interferes with the ability to perform normal daily household activities.
While some of our spouses might argue otherwise, I'd hope none of us are there yet.
For my part, two of my three sets (about 2400 of my 3000-ish chips) rarely ever see the light of day. And I still want more!

My name is Ragman and I have a problem.....actually about 5,500 problems. I guess you can call that hoarding since I only really need maybe 1,000-1,500 of those 'problems' if I host a game.
BTW, my wife loves those shows and even commented that someday they might tape a show from my poker room (she was referring to my chips, cards and 5 poker tables).

I wouldn't consider myself a 'chip hoarder'
But I aspire to be one someday
