My Sneaker Collection

Before I was captivated by the world of casino collecting and poker, I was heavily into Sneakers. I started my collection when I was young due to the fact that I played a lot of sports (mainly basketball). I went from Basketball to poker, I guess I'm following Doyle Brunson and Eric Lindgren's path. I used my love for Sneaker design as a catalyst on what I do currently as a career.

Anyway enjoy a creative tour of my sneaker collection:

Here is the start of it-

Re: My Sneaker Collection

Wow, crazy collection and cool pics. I've never been a hardcore sneaker collector myself but I know a couple of people who are. It's as bad as the chip sickness for some people.

Re: My Sneaker Collection

I'm not sure if it was meant to be funny or not (?), but I LMAO'ed at the shoes in the fridge, and never regained my composure as I continued to scroll down.

Actually, in all sincerity, I have to relate a story. My wife and I have a running joke that's related to this thread. One day she asked me why I liked poker chips so much... why I am always on CT, why I seem to "need" another set of chips when I already have (more than one) set of chips that can do the job, etc. I replied,"Well, I guess it's kind of like you and shoes," and before I could complete my analogy, she involuntarily blurted "I like shoes!" Since then, everytime one of us says we like something (i.e. "I like ____"; could be anything: a food we ate, a warm break in the weather, a TV show... anything), the other says "I like shoes!" as quickly as possible in a silly voice.

Re: My Sneaker Collection

It's not just shoes. It's sneakers. Adidas, Nike, Reebok, etc. I had a magazine that was getting sent to me a while back, had about 5 issues or so and it was all about sneakers, and collecting sneakers, and the people who collect them.

I know... it's just... "sneakers" is an American word. You almost never hear it in Canada. Here, they're just "running shoes", even if they're actually "basketball shoes" or "tennis shoes" or "cross-trainers"... everybody here calls them "running shoes".
I think I said "sneakers" once in 1998 and received a strange glance.

*EDIT* And yes, I was into "sneakers" a little, too, back in the day. Reebok "pumps" were all the rage. I had a pair of Air Jordan's... I think they were the 3rd edition (?) -- the suede maroon ones that came out just after the first black ones. Mmm... "Junior High!" Those were the days. I remember getting in a fight in the locker room 'cause some kid thought it would be funny to take my "lace protectors".

That's so true. I've never thought of it before. Don't forget the short form "runners".

LOL, I hear ya. I don't call them sneakers either. "Kicks" is what we used to call them back in the day, but even that is un-cool to say nowadays. Even "un-cool" is "un-cool", or "wack", or "buggin'".

Re: My Sneaker Collection

Wow great pictures and collections! love the fisheye, sneaker and poker combinations.

It's probably more of an addiction. After a few Jordans, SBs, couple Dunks it can get pricey. Love the Heinekins - they are my favorites lately.

Re: My Sneaker Collection

Where's the SUPERSTARS!!!

... I'm a sneakerhead myself.... Adidas Superstars is all I do. No offense, I hate Nike and everything about them.

I've got almost 60 pairs right now.... with 2 more pairs I just bought off eBay on their way.

Here's a quick small sampling.... an old photo I had on my photobucket

If you've seen the movie "Just for Kicks"... I just picked up a pair of the Adidas Superstars that were made for the makers. Only 100 pairs made and I was lucky enough to get a pair just last week.

Re: My Sneaker Collection

Nice collection you got there KING! I love superstars. It's nostalgic, clean, simple, BASKETBALL!!, Shell toe and if you're a kid of the 80's like me, you grew up with them. I only had 2 pairs of them in my lifetime and I beat them up to death.

Back When Kobe was with Adidas I had a couple of his feet you wear shoes. Awesome.

Here's a scan of some guy and his Adidas-
