I Finally got my holy grail of shoes. This past week Nike re-released a classic basketball shoe from 1995. They are called the Air Zoom Flight. They were Jason Kidd's signature shoe. Back in High school when I was on the basketball team I modeled my game after his. I rarely took shots, but I made it apparent that I made defense my top priority. Drawing the defense to me then dishing the ball out, shooting mid range shots and grabbing rebounds was in my intentions.
What it is about the shoes that do it for me, well my friends let me tell you. It was one of the first basketball shoes to encapsulate the Zoom air technology, Which I still think is one of the best air cushioning systems out there. It has a carbon fiber plate on the sole to stabilize the foot. The traction on the sole allows you to stop on a dime. The Vinyl material hugs the foot for even more stabilization. The shoe is very light in weight. Performance is not the only reason why I love the shoe. The look was automotive inspired .Once again carbon fiber was used and the circular shapes on the side shows wheels in motion.
As a teen I saw this and found the Designer, Eric Avar. I found it very inspirational to think that shoes was more than just a look and something you wear. It changed my whole outlook on life and the way I thought. From then I would draw constantly ( I still do today ) Thinking outside of the box to come up with daily objects that help. It was an amazing transformation for me. So since then I've graduated from a Design school in the Bay Area. In pursue to finally design shoes. It's yet happen, but I'm very hopeful.
So here they are:
If you're curious, check them out, any foot locker or champs sporting good should have them. Thanks for taking a gander at where my career started.
