HDMI Cable Help Needed Quickly

I want to hook my hi-def cable box up to the HDMI port on my tv. I need a 35' cable (my AV eq't is on an other wall in my family room). Best Buy and other big box electronic stores sell these cables for a mint.

I found these online - prices vary greatly. Any thoughts? What should I look for? I can't see spending $250+ for 35' when I can get a comparable cable for much much less. I just don't know if I am giving up pic quality.

In-Wall CL2 Rated HDMI Cable - 30 Feet - HHD04G-E

I get all my cables at monoprice.

High quality & hands down best pricing around. There is no good reason to pay more.

Re: HDMI Cable Help Needed Quickly

Whenever I want to buy from an online company I've never ordered from, there are 3 things I look for.
  1. Physical Address
  2. Toll free number
  3. Reviews of the company on the internet
The first and last ones you listed are also members of the BBB (according to their websites)

The ones you've linked to are just fine. I had this same question and asked a few people in the 'biz'...avoid anything 'Monster'...so very overpriced...basically shop at discount electronic stores or even ebay.

Good luck. HD rules!

Re: HDMI Cable Help Needed Quickly

Since these are digital signals and not analog like with composite/audio, you don't need to spend big bucks on monster cables with no loss blah blah blah. Any decent cable should be just fine. And you'll know right away if it works or not because with digital its either on or off. Don't flush money down the toilet on 3 figure cables.

Re: HDMI Cable Help Needed Quickly

According to an article in my Sunday paper pertaining to HDMI cables, there is no difference between the quality of different brands and price points of HDMI cables. Because the cable transfers digital audio and video it differs from the old "monster" cables that transfered analog audio and video. Larger (and more expensive) analog cables could transfer more information with less distortion. Digital (HDMI)cables either work or they don't. The information is transfered with little or no distortion and even if there is a small fraction of distortion it is read by the TV and cleaned up. Obviously a longer cable 35' may be more expensive becuase there is more cable but ignore brand names and simply price it out and get the cheapest. I found some at Sam's Club for cheap.
