Re: Is this a good deal?

I paid a little more than that for my "43 LCD TV, so I'd say yes. But, I'm not an expert on T.V.'s, at all. Also, I've been drinking, a little

Seriously, that looks like a good deal to me.

Re: Is this a good deal?

How much is shipping on the 50"?? (I didn't read thru the entire listing). The price on the 50" is good - Philips has good screens - in fact if I'm not mistaken they make the screens for a lot of other Plasma TV's. My brother in law has a 42" philips plasma for about 2 years already and loves it. I'd say depending on the shipping it is a good deal. If you have amemebrship to Costco or Sams club you should check there because I have seen the same tv for the same price

Re: Is this a good deal?

Have you looked at any Sonys. I just bought a 42" Wega and the picture is great. Might want to check Consumer Reports to see about reliability.

Re: Is this a good deal?

i just recently purchased 2 new LCD's for my house (a 52" and a 37"). after my latest round of research, i wouldn't touch a phillips with a 10-foot pole. cruise by circuit city's website and read some customer reviews. sounds like if you get one that doesn't break, it's fine, but a lot of them break and the services is horrible. i'm talking about like 6 months without a working TV . . .

best on the market right now seems to be sony and sharp. the sony's get the nod from a style perspective, and at an additional cost. the pioneer elites are the absolute bomb, but very, very expensive. good stuff from LG is out there as well.

Re: Is this a good deal?

I've never owned a phillips tv, but I can say that I've bought two phillips brand items, and they both sucked and their support was horrible. I'll never buy phillips again.

For TVs, I think you have to first decide what your spending and then find the best TV at that price for your needs.

Just a note that I read in pop sci that mitsubishi is coming out with laser TVs this year that will have three times the color depth, weigh less, be less thick, cost less to make, and use less electricity than all the flat panels currently avaialble. They may make everything else obsolete.
